a little me time...

Do you love to read or know someone who loves to read? These little bookmarks are so much fun to make - and would make a great gift. I saw the idea on Pinterest awhile back here and they were made with pretty little jewelry pieces. They are so beautiful. I am not good with making jewelry, but I can hot glue like it's nobody business. lol

I was playing around with my scrapbooking products tonight, since it's been so long since I've spent time creating, just for fun. Then I saw these Melissa Frances resin frames lying on my table and thought....a necklace? A photo inside? Hang them on a scrapbook page? Aha. A bookmark.

For each bookmark, I wanted a long piece that you slide into the book to hold the page. For this, I used white pom pom trim by Melissa Frances on the middle bookmark, tinsel for the swirl bookmark, and a crepe paper strip for bookmark on the right. (All by Melissa Frances.) I just added some little resin frames, pins, and a satin flower (on the center one) with a hot glue gun. For these photos, I covered some old books with Melissa Frances papers from the 5th Avenue line.

This one holds a little photo of my girls.
I think I know what my mom is getting for her birthday in September! She loves to read. A new book with a new bookmark inside will do the trick. (I might cover the new book in pretty papers too!)

Ooh, I just had another thought. One of Melissa Frances' chandelier drops would be neat dangling on a bookmark as well!

Melissa Frances supplies used:
Papers: 5th Avenue line
Resin: Elegance Frame Applique, Provincial Applique - set of 4, Scroll Applique
Flower: Green Satin Twist Rose
Rub on sentiment: Girlfriends rub ons
White Pearls
Silver Tinsel
Tissue Paper Garland, pink and white
Pom pom trim, white
Other: floral pins, gray lace ribbon

happy go lucky...

Feeling happy-go-lucky this week, getting ready to go visit my family. I did get the A-OK to share my Mistables projects with you by Pink Paislee! This line developed to accept misting sprays and paint mediums perfectly. They are great for scrapbooking, card making, general crafting, home decor and more, and when combined with your favorite colors, you'll be inspired to create quick, stylish designs that are uniquely YOU!

On this layout, I went with my favorite color palette lately. I wanted to create a rainbow effect with the inks to highlight her happy personality.
I blended the inks with my Time Holtz blending tool (see the post below for a list of inks I used). The happy and lucky and were cut with my Papertrey Ink Wonderful Words dies. The GO are new chipboard letters by Pink Paislee that you can mist also. I used a soft blue on them. Wishing you sunshine is from the Blooming Button Bits stamp set by Papertrey Ink. I just bought this set and can't stop using it!

I popped up some stars cut out of my scraps. These papers are so gorgeous!!
Now if you are more of a shabby-type crafter, you can use this line to make a shabby frame like this (frame is from the Mistables line by Pink Paislee) using softer colors.
I sprayed the papers in the background and the flowers too! The flowers come just like that in plain muslin, ready to be sprayed. I decided to add a hanging wire to the frame with photos and a tag.

The tags are gorgeous that come with this line too. Here I used creme paint and rubbed off the embossed areas very quickly before it dried.
Please tell your retailers you want this gorgeous line - it's available for pre-order right now at Pink Paislee!

Happy trails...

Welcome to another Papertrey Ink blog hop and today we are featuring the new Happy Trails stamps and dies coming out the 15th. I was inspired by the bird in the set and the little inspirational saying that goes with it!
I've been seeing these cute stuffed birds on-line and well....I love any fabric project, so I gave it a whirl. To make the bird, I just cut 2 bird pieces from fabric and placed them wrong sides together. I machine stitched around 3/4 of it and left a hole at the bottom of her belly to turn it right side out and stuff it with quilt batting. I stamped "smile" on her belly before stuffing. The wings are decorate with felt, lace, flower and an Artisan Element by Pink Paislee.
The legs are made of thick wire, so that the bird can stand. I just bent them and played around until she stood up! It helps to make the wired legs long and stick the wire all the way up into her body to give her some extra stabilization. Oh, don't forget to add some cute wooden spools to the legs if you wish! Makes her a little whimsical and homespun. :)
I really wanted her to hold a twig of some sort, but I opted for a pin and then hung a felt heart on the pin.

I loved the saying that came with the bird in the stamp set, so I stamped it with Ripe Avocado ink and Pure Poppy for the word "song" and added it to this cute little frame with a Happy Trails die cut bird in the corner. I had to stamp the words a little differently to get them to fit, so I masked off some of the words as I went and stamped a few words at a time.
Tuck these two together in a nice gift box and what a sweet gift it would make.

All that I am....

Happy Wednesday! It's almost here...National Scrapbooking Day. What do you have planned? I've been busy, busy working on my classes for NSD that I'll be teaching at Right at Home on May 2nd for this fun scrapping holiday. Wanted to post a couple tiny sneaks of a frame project....I promise, you will LOVE this class! I wanted to create something that people will actually hang up in their house or feel good about giving as a gift. More info to come soon... (sorry for the glare).
That day I will also going to be doing a card class with a combination of the new Pink Paislee lines, so I will be posting information on that one soon as well. Stay tuned!

Over at Emma's Paperie, there is a cute sketch posted today by Jessica Witty! Check out the yummy inspiration over there.
This is what I did with the sketch. Papers are Cosmo Cricket's Ever After, Melissa Frances rub ons, Bo Bunny chipboard (swirl) and SEI coaster tag (Oasis)... all supplies that you can find at Emma's.
Isn't this saying so cute? My mom always tells me we are not raising children. We are raising adults. So true. Enjoy your day and thanks so much for stopping by,
