Introducing Book Club...

Hello! Welcome back to the Papertrey Ink countdown, where we get to preview some of the new products coming out on the 15th of September. Today we are introducing a new set of bookmark dies, Basic Bookmarks #1, 2 and 3, and the Book Club stamp set by Papertrey Ink!

For my first project, I was trying to think of a clever way to give books as a gift. I wrapped the covers of the books in white corrugated cardboard. It's pliable and bends right around the books, and I just tucked the ends of the cardboard under the front and back covers. Then I wrapped a large doily, a hello tag and some twine around the book.

I tied on a little gift tag that I made with the bookmark dies and and the Book Club stamps and says, "A Gift For You".

Here is the inside of the gift tag, stamped with Book Club. What a neat saying.

To make the tag, I cut a Basic Bookmark #3 out of a gold foil embossed card. I left some space at the bottom of the arrows to stamp "A Gift For You".

Then I simply scored it in the center and folded it in half to create the tag, punched a hole and tied it on!

Next up is a card. I used the same process as above, but this time I created a pocket instead of a tag, folding it in half and then added a couple of stitches on the sides to hold the pocket together for a bookstore gift card on the front.

It's hard to get good pictures, but the gold is so pretty. I thought the "time flies" would be perfect to go with the book theme! Time flies when you are reading a good book!!

Last, 2 simple bookmarks. Again these are made with the white corrugated cardboard! Get out your crimpers, ladies! Let's bring it back into style.

These were die cut with Basic Bookmark #1. The one on the left was run through the die cutting machine a second time to cut the holes for the stitching. I used the new Embroidered Borders die for the holes, and just ran some floss up and down through the holes, very easy.

The second bookmark was stamped with Book Club stamps and then embellished with some leaves die cut with Doodlie-Do dies. Hope you enjoyed these ideas for gifts for book lovers!

Introducing Sparkle & Shine, NEW! Shaker Shapes dies...

Welcome back to another day of the Papertrey Ink countdown for September! Today we have a preview of the new Sparkle & Shine dies and stamp sets! They will all be available on the 15th of this month at 10pm EST. On the first card, I used the ornament shaped dies and created a shaker card for the holidays.

Sequins were added into the shaker card for some "shine". In the background, on the Aqua Mist cardstock, I stamped some "rays" with Hello Sunshine and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

The gold paper on the word "shine" was from the Luxe Letterpress kit. It has a sticky back on it, so it was easy to just peel and stick the word onto the clear cardstock! I thought the gold and aqua were perfect colors to go with the "vintage" feel that the shape of the ornament has.

The second card uses the circle dies. But this time, I didn't make a shaker card with them (although you can!). I simply cut several circles and used them as the focal point on my card. Love how it turned out! This one just makes me happy.

The gold dotty paper in the center is from Heidi Swapp's project life kit that I picked up at Michaels one day. All of the other papers are from Papertrey Ink. The little stars and sequins were cut out using the dies also, along with the circle and the "sparkle".

This one would work great for a birthday card. My daughters get invited to so many parties, that it's nice to have cards on hand just for such occasions!

Monthly Moments: September...

This month, the Monthly Moments products are all about fall...back-to-school, harvest, leaves falling, hayrides, football and autumn days. I've done a scrapbook layout and a pocket page with the Monthly Moments: September products. Here are some sneaks of the stamps, dies and pretty papers available on Sept. 15th at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink.

On this 8.5 x 11" page, I used some of the Monthly Moments: September Journal Cards in the background.

Then a pocket was die cut with the new Monthly Moments: Journal Pocket 3 die to hold photos of Kati on her first day back to school this year. I used the lined stamp in the Monthly Moments: September stamps to stamp lines for the journaling.

The cute little chalkboard shapes were made with a die and chalkboard paint! I cut some Tremendous Tags out of thin chipboard and painted them with Martha Stewart Chalkboard paint. Found the paint at Michaels for $1.99. They dry quick and are hard like little chalkboards! So fun to make!

Then the Monthly Moments: September stamps and Tag-Its #6 stamps were used on the little chalkboards - stamped with white ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder to really make the white stand out. To create the "chalk" look, I dipped my finger in white stamping ink and rubbed it over the embossed sayings.

The book saying was stamped with the new Book Club stamp set coming out this month also. Kati loves to read, and I thought it would be cute to add this saying onto a back-to-school page!

The next one is a 2-pager/pocket style scrapbooking layout from our apple picking days when the girls were little. I used the Monthly Moments: September die and stamp set and the coordinating Journal Card Collection.

From the Journal Card Collection, I chose 3 of my favorite papers from the pack. They make it easy to do a quick page, just fill some of the pockets with these, some pockets with pictures, then embellish a bit if you want, and you're done!

Some of the little chalkboards were used on this layout too, using the same idea of stamping on them and embossing. The long, skinny photo was trimmed down to 2x7" from a 5x7" picture. The pocket was cut with Monthly Moments: Journal Pocket 3 to hold my journaling. I couldn't resist adding an apple and some sayings from Apple Prints ..."I love you to the core" and "I pick you" were perfect for this!
Washi tape always adds a little bit more pattern and interest to my pages. (I forgot to round the corners of the Fall card like the rest of the pages, will go back and do that.) Anyway, that's it! A quick and simple page.
