Another week...

....has gone by and I can't believe the summer is going so fast! Eeek! I hope you all are enjoying your summer!

The next round of the Paper Crafts Card Idol contest is up and ready again. I'd love it if you would come and vote for your favorite. It's really easy this time...all the cards are in a row and at the bottom there is a link to vote. When you click it, it will give you all the names of the people, just check which one you want! It's that simple this time! There is no signing in or anything. I made it in the top 10 and this week 5 people will move onto the next round! Voting is up until Thursday at noon.

Here is the link to all the cards and voting: Cards with Quotes

This is the card I created for the contest. I used some October Afternoon journaling cards and attached them with ribbon in the back so the card can be folded up and sent in an envelope. Added chipboard letters to spell out "home" with a little doorknocker and quote by Melissa Frances that says, "Where we love is Home. Home is where our feet may leave...but not our hearts. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes." (click on photos to see them larger)

I hope you will come and vote for your favorite! There are SO many amazing cards!

Next, I wanted to share a little mini album that I made for Right at Home Scrapbooking. It is a kit that you can purchase. You get everything you see here plus a LOT more in this kit with directions and photos to complete each page! When it is open, it is 12x12 so you will have 10 full 12x12 pages to fit all your vacation photos in! There are chipboard pages, as well as acrylic pages to mix it up a bit. Click on the link above for information on purchasing the kit.

Well, that's all for me today! Thanks for stopping by! I love to read all your comments. And to my family in South Dakota reading this...I can't wait to see you all in a few short weeks! We are just thrilled to be coming home soon! ~Danielle~

A Princess Party!

Today was my day to post a project on the Pink Paislee blog, so I decided to make something fun and girly with the new Pop Fashion papers.....a little party invitation and table decoration! I have 2 girls and we love all things pink and girly!

The first is an easy invitation you can create for your guests!

First, I took one piece of a sheer crown album by Maya Road (you get 8 pages in this album) and added a folded piece of the Jellies paper to the front (it opens up to add the party information inside). Next, I added “it’s a” with the new Fashion Script sticker letters, “fashionista” rub on from the Pop Fashion rub ons, and “party!” with black sticker letters. The crown had one hole in the left side where it was attached to the album, so I punched another hole on the right side and tied pink twine across in a bow, then added a bit more of the Pop Fashion rub ons underneath. A few pearl gems topped off the crown. Very easy to make!
(Currently Out for Publication, Cards Magazine - Jan. 2008)
With 4 of the remaining crowns from the mini album, I created a table decoration. What I did was cover each crown front and back with the Bell Bottoms paper and the Bermuda Shorts paper. (Trace crown onto back of paper, cut out and adhere to crown.) Then I punched holes in the corners of the crown and tied them together with twine. I added a design to the front piece with sticker letters, a strip of the Hip Huggers paper, and a ribbon. You can set a bowl inside filled with goodies for the party. (I added a bowl of Hershey Kisses.)

This is the view from the top:
And lastly, don't forget to add a photo of the princess tucked inside the bowl!
This idea can be used with any sort of chipboard! You can make a haunted house for Halloween or a train or other boy shape for a boy’s party with the new Pink Paislee Vintage Moon papers. Really the possibilities are endless! I hope I've inspired you! And if you love these papers and rub ons, hold on to your checkbook because I have a card kit coming on August 15th with all of the Pop Fashion papers and rub ons! Papers will be 12 x 12, so you can use them for your pages as well. Check back soon for more information!

thank you!

Thank you so much for everyone who follows my blog and voted for me in the Paper Crafts Card Idol contest! I made it on to the next round! The theme this time is monochromatic cards (all one color). Voting has started and you'll have until Thursday at noon to vote for your favorite card and then 10 of the 15 people will move on to the next round!

Here is the link to see all of the cards: Monochromatic cards
Here is the link to my card: Snowflake card "Baby It's Cold Outside"
(To vote, click on my card and underneath you will see "to vote for your favorite, click here".)

I chose to go with white, not so sure if that was a smart move or not! It was so difficult to get a good photo of this card. I used 2 pieces of Maya Road sheer snowflakes and tied them together to make a card. I added a resin frame, chipboard letters, chipboard snowflake, ribbon, and rub ons by Melissa Frances. I also added some "snow" on the top of the snowflakes with white paint and glitter which it's a little hard to tell in the photos.

Thank you so much for your support! I'm having a lot of fun with this contest and pushing my creativity. I've never made a monochromatic card before!

Here are a couple of cards I made for an on-line magazine called Scrapbook News and Review. They wrote to me a month or two ago and asked if I would do an article about myself with 2 unique cards just for their magazine and here is what I came up with. This one is made with SEI's Chick-a-Dee line and a Melissa Frances rub on, chipboard flower and resin frame.
The Lazy Days of Summer was made with some Pink Paislee Spring Fling papers, a Riff Raff chipboard butterfly, a Melissa Frances rub on and chipboard flower and the little sun is from a piece of Sassafras Lass paper.
Wishing you a happy day today! Thanks for visiting me! Hugs! ~Danielle~
