For today's October Monthly Moments post, I made an accordian style mini album with cardstock as my base. Super easy and inexpensive!
White cardstock was used to create the base. I cut an 8.5 x 11" piece in half the long way, then scored the 2 long pieces at 3" intervals. Then you'll attach the two pieces together on one end to create a long accordian style piece of paper. Fold it back and forth to create the accordian base. I ended up using 2 whole pieces of 8.5 x 11" cardstock for this one, so 4 long sections all attached together. When all stretched out, it measures over 3 feet long! This would be a fun brag book to send to the grandmas.
On the front, I used the Cover Plate Triangles die and then stamped some of the triangles with the Tiny Triangles Mini Stamp set. Kind of reminds me of candy corn! The "boo" and the other sayings were stamped with new Monthly Moments: October stamps by Papertrey Ink. After decorating the front, I tied seam binding around it to hold it together once it's full. I adhered it to the front, but not the back. If you adhere it to the back, it won't open all the way. :) Just wrap it around and tie it when you want to keep it closed.
To keep the album more cohesive, I placed all of the photos on the left side (wallet sized) and the decorative elements and journaling on all of the right side pages. Do you see the star vellum cut out? That's the new Monthly Moments: Journal card 5 die. SO cute!
The button is from the adorable Fancy Pants line called True Friend. The colors are perfect for autumn!
Next, is a pic of my girls with a couple of their friends. These were all taken at the pumpkin patch in New York two seasons ago. I think I've scrapped some of these pics before, but I just adore them. Lots of great memories with these sweet girls. (The pics turned out a bit dark, my printer is really getting on my nerves lately!)
On this page, I used the "trick or treat" stamp. The journaling says, "Going down the super slide! Kati was scared at first, but Brooke talked her into it. Definitely a treat!" It was a treat to see them having so much fun. They had a blast after they got over their fears of it!
Behind the stamping, I used a Sketched Stars die cut from gold foil paper. You can see I went with a triangle/stars look for the whole mini album. Keeping the same colors, shapes and repeating elements brings the album together.
The ticket and "hocus pocus" were stamped with Monthly Moments: October stamps. The small stars were cut with the Cover Plate Stars die.
Another Journal Card 5 die cut here in the black. Just so much fun.
Then on the last page, I used a pocket die that came out last month to hold more pics. It's the Journal Pocket 3 die. All of the papers used are from the Monthly Moments: October Journal Card Collection, coming out soon on Oct. 15th. You could make more pockets to hold even more photos. Possibilities are ENDless!
Don't you just love pumpkins? Oh, the textures and colors are so gorgeous. Anyway, then I couldn't leave the back of the book just plain white, so I added one of the October Journal Card papers to the back as well for a finishing touch.
