What's your style?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, as it pertains to scrapbooking. Yesterday, I was playing around with my supplies and wanted to create a page just for me. Just because. So I came up with this.

Journaling says, "This is a question I have been asking myself lately about my scrapbooking work. What style do I most enjoy? Shabby, messy and artsy, or clean? The truth is that I enjoy them all, and even though my style seems to come through as clean with a little bit of shabbiness to it, inside of me is definitely the artsy, creative type waiting to spill out! I would love to create more just for me. Create what my heart speaks to me that day. Just throw paint on paper, stitch and go. Not thinking about what others might think or if it's my "style" per se, or if my photos are stellar enough. I would like to not be so critical of my work, and create faster. Not think about it so much. The process is what I enjoy! I want to get messy!"

(By messy, I just mean more artsy-looking. I hope I didn't offend anyone by that.) I used a couple of Glimmer Mists here, Graphite and Deep Purple, and misted over the chipboard letters and then attached them off to the side. The photo is of my VERY messy paint palette. Me thinks I need a new one! The paint doesn't come off of it anymore. Kati was painting yesterday with it and after I rinsed it off, I thought, gosh that is pretty with all of the colors on it. So I took a picture of it and went from there.

I don't have a 12 x 12" printer, so I cut a strip of white cardstock off the side, printed on it and then put it back together on my layout. The way I do this is: I print my journaling on a regular piece of paper. Use a tape roller to attach my white cardstock over the top and run it through my printer again.

How about you? What's your style? What styles are you drawn to?

Wacky Wednesday!

Each week for "Wacky Wednesday" over at the Pink Paislee blog, we are to come up with a unique idea for a Pink Paislee item. I wanted to work with the Twilight line, as I haven't played with it yet and love Halloween! It's not too early for candy, is it?

I decided to turn some of the Twilight postcards into little treat bags!

Here's how to make these. They are super easy:

1. Cut postcards apart. Choose which one you want to make a treat bag with.

2. Cut a piece of paper or cardstock for the back of the treat bag (or you can just use another postcard, since they are all the same size).

3. Sandwich the postcard and other paper together with right sides of the paper facing out. Cut a 6 inch piece of ribbon. Pinch ends of ribbon together and sandwich ends of ribbon in between the 2 sides of the treat bags.

4. Zig zag stitch around the two sides and bottom with sewing maching. Leave top open for treats.

5. Tuck in a die cut from the Twilight Punchouts for writing a little note to the recipient. Add candy.

You can also dress up these bags with the Expressions glittery chipboard letters, or hand cut the 31 from the Dusk paper as I did on the Beware bag. The white bag was misted with Glimmer Mist first and then stamped with "treats" from the Twilight Stamp Set.

The stick pins are so popular right now. I created my own with some basic pins from the craft supply store and the Twilight Bella Brads. Just cut off the prongs from the back of the brad with an old pair of scissors or wire cutters and use a glue dot to attach the brad to the head of the pin.

Hope this inspires you to get crafty! Thank you for visiting today,

Core curriculum...

Happy Tuesday! What do you have going on today? Taylor is having a play date so we are anxiously awaiting her friend's arrival. Nine more days until school starts!

In scrappy news, Noel Mignon has asked me to be her guest designer this month! I was in AWE when I opened the new Core Curriculum kit, it's sooo packed full of goodies and is perfect for any type of school pages. Each Tuesday this month, you will see a new post by me with some creations done with this kit HERE.

Today I made a page about my daughter doing homework. She really struggles with it, and it's not her favorite thing to do after a long day at school. But I'm so proud of her for getting through each and every night last year. Her having Attention Deficit Disorder really controls her ability to focus, so it has been quite a struggle. She had 4 subjects of homework, and it usually took her 2 hours to complete it all. That's a lot for 3rd grade if you ask me!

I meant to tuck her report card into the pocket before I took the pic of my page. She got an O (for outstanding) in the homework department! A positive note to remember.

I love the blue paper with the lines on it. Reminds me of when I was a teacher, and I used to use those sentence strips. They are perfect for journaling!
