Creative Cardmaker: Adding contrast to your backgrounds...

I usually love using white backgrounds on my cards, but with fall arriving here in Colorado, I’ve been in the mood to be different and try some fall colors against a darker background. I love the contrast the darker background gives!

Fall is a great time to mix up your colors and try a few new color palettes! For inspiration, try looking for autumn wedding color combinations on Pinterest; there are so many beautiful pictures to inspire you.
I've used the Big Hugs dies and Vintage Linens stamps and dies by Papertrey Ink, as well as the Luxe Gold Adhesive Paper.
Stop over to the Weekly Scrapper blog to read more about these cards and my process, and hopefully be inspired to try a dark background on your next card. See you next week with another Creative Cardmaker post!

Release day...

Have you been following the Papertrey Ink countdown this month? Today is the day all of the new products will be up for sale at 10pm EST! Here are a few more new stamps and dies we were lucky enough to work with this month! First up, I used a new stamp set called L' Shanah Tovah (sentiment and small leaves) paired with Vintage Linens stamps.
On this card, I wanted to try a more neutral color scheme and went for grays, blacks and golds. The wreath is cut with the Rustic Wreath die.

Next up I've used the new Petite Places: Main Street stamps and the new Graceful Greetings dies.
To create a little home for the cute little shops that were stamped, I cut some of the Limitless Layers 2.5" Square dies and layered them with a Vintage Linen paper and paper from the Sweet Blush Pattern Pack.

Vintage linens...

Today is our third group blog post for Papertrey Ink's July countdown! We are previewing a couple of new stamp sets and dies: Vintage Linens and Embroidered Borders, both of which I loved working with! The new products will be available at Papertrey Ink on 7/15 at 10pm EST.
First, I selected a photo that inspired me. The little flowers caught my eye, especially the blue ones, which you'll see in the second card.

The first card was more simple. I used one of the Vintage Linen papers in the background, then stamped and die cut the flowers to add over the top.
The sentiment is from a new set called Perfect Pairing.

Thinking of You card:
STAMPS: Vintage Linens, Perfect Pairing
INK: New Leaf, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy
PAPER: Vintage Linens
DIES: Vintage Linens
OTHER: sequins by Pretty Pink Posh.

The second card uses a few more layers. I stamped the background in black with the outline stamps of the flowers.

"Just Because" is from a new stamp set called Keep It Simple: Just Because.
The frame is die cut and stamped with Embroidered Borders. Really loved working with these products and have quite a few more ideas to use them with!
