make your own PL cards...

I've been thinking long and hard about my future in crafting, and I've got some big decisions to make, as far as where I'm headed. Now that we are almost all settled in and I'm full force ahead again, I feel like I want to do more with my work. I'm going to give it some serious thought over the next month. You may see changes coming! Anyway, yesterday I felt like making some PL cards. I know, I know...I don't dabble in PL yet, but I've been getting the itch to do so! I love scrapbook pages, I love cards, but sometimes you feel the need to try something new. Right? I do...most definitely. I enjoy working with smaller canvases, so it felt very natural to me.
So here are the handmade cards I created with Pink Paislee's new Hey Kid line! There's no reason we can't make our own little PL cards with our stash. On this one, I folded a piece of vellum and stitched the side and bottom to create a pocket, then filled it with some of the Hey Kid Ephemera and punched circles. You can add a photo, journaling etc in the pocket. (The top is open.) Isn't the texture great on these canvas stickers?
The "shoot for the stars" card is stamped with the new Sentiment Series stamps.  The third card was just trimmed from the 6x6" Hey Kid paper pad.

I added more canvas stickers over the top and to help it blend and coordinate with the other cards, I added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom. The stars saying is Super Stars by Papertrey Ink.
The circle card is my favorite I think! I trimmed it from the 12x12" die cut paper.
The vellum one came just like this (3" x4") in the Hey Kid Ephemera pack. I added more ticket ephemera over the top and some chipboard. Layers, layers, layers!
The last one is trimmed from the 6x6" paper pad and added an ephemera saying with some Luxe arrows. It's backed with vellum.
If you are into Project Life, visit the Pink Paislee blog all this week and next for more ideas. Have a good one!

Release day...

Today is the day all of the March goodies go up for sale at Papertrey Ink. Do you want to see what's new this month? This first card features the new Rosie Posie Step 2 stamps. It is an addition to Rosie Posie and adds shading over the flowers, which really looks gorgeous! I used the big leafy swirl from Turning a New Leaf.

A doily folded over the top, some twine and a few punched butterflies adds some dimension! The sentiment is from Stylish Sentiments: Birthday.

Sending Birthday Hugs & Wishes card:

Next, I used the new Wonderful Words: Birthday stamp set and dies. I also added the bubbles from the Birthday Style stamp set. I made the stripe patterned paper myself with the older Super Stripes stamp set! I stamped 2 lines of stripes with Super Stripes stamps to emulate a patterned paper from Crate Paper's On Trend collection that I have in my stash!

Happy Birthday Wishes card:

INK: Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, True Black, Soft Stone, New Leaf, Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy

OTHER: none.

______

The Blooming Spring card uses the floral sprigs and sentiment from the new Spring Hills set with Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2 (new this month) stamp sets.

The color palette is Soft Stone, Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen and Sweet Blush inks. I will be using this palette again! Loved it.

A quick birthday card was made here with Boutique Style: Birthday stamps and dies, Birthday Style stamps and dies and the Background Basics: Birthday stamps. See the patterned paper at the top? That is the one I was trying to emulate when I made my own stamped stripe paper on the above birthday card.
I popped up the frame and candles.

On the Happy Hello card, I stamped some flowers from the Polka Dot Parade #2 stamp set down the card.

I also added some large leaves in Sweet Blush with the older Turning a New Leaf stamp set.

Next up is Hello Foxy. What a cute set! I stamped the fox on Lavender Moon cardstock with white and embossed her and then I stamped her again on Sweet Blush Pattered Paper and cut out parts to add over the top of the plain one. Added a die cut butterfly and heart and stamping from the Modern Wood Mats stamp set.

Hello Foxy card:

Last is Comfort Food Additions. These are sayings that go with the older Comfort Food set. I started with a white card base that I had on hand from AC Moore and stamped the bowls from Comfort Foods in all different colors, the spoons in Soft Stone and punched out the "ice cream scoops" from cardstock and patterned paper. I used the Upper Script Alpha dies to cut out the word "party". Ice Cream sentiment is from Comfort Food Additions.

Release Day...

Today the Papertrey Ink team members get to share all of their new projects with the products coming out tonight at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink. I'll show you what products are new!

My first card is made with the new Cutting Garden stamps.
I tried a few new things on this card (well, new to me!). First, I embossed the stamping with Zing, which is a little bit thicker than the fine embossing powder, but I like how it turned out. I added some white embossing powder over the top for "highlights" on my flowers, and I used a dry brush with some darker ink over the flowers and leaves to make darker areas as well.

After it dried, I went over the card with white ink to make it look "chalk board-ish".

Thank You card:
STAMPS: Cutting Garden
INK: Fresh Snow, Limeade Ice, Sweet Blush ink
PAPER: Smokey Shadow
one cardstock
DIES: none
OTHER: Zing powder - Blush and Cricket, white embossing powder., Soft Stone.
----------

Next I used two new sets, one called Fanciful Finials and one called My Mother, My Friend.

The Fanciful Finials go with the Background Basics: Wrought Iron set (to add little tops to the fence), but I decided to create a pattern with them instead. I stamped them in a criss-cross pattern. I added the floral stamp on the top and bottom from My Mother, My Friend and the sentiments from that set also. I cut the MOM frame out with the new My Mother, My Friend dies.

MOM card:
STAMPS: My Mother, My Friend, Fanciful Finials
INK: True Black, Sweet Blush ink, Raspberry Fizz
PAPER: Vintage Cream cardstock, Soft Stone cardstock
DIES: My Mother, My Friend
OTHER: On Trend chipboard by Crate Paper, Melissa Frances pearl.

----------

"So Happy For You" was made with the new Watercolor Wonder and  Mini Blooms stamps. I love the font in the Mini Blooms sentiments!

I used Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold and Hawaiian Shores inks. (Sweet Blush ink on the second one. I like how Sweet Blush ink looks in person, but online the Raspberry Fizz really pops!)

So Happy For You card:
STAMPS: Mini Blooms, Watercolor Wonder
INK: Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores
PAPER: white cardstock
DIES: none
OTHER: Melissa Frances gems.

----------

These were stamped in the backgrounds with Watercolor Wonder. I used the Wonderful Words: Hello die cut and stamps also for the sentiments.

"To you from me with love" is from the Mini Blooms set. One of my favorite sentiments!

Hello watercolor cards:
STAMPS: Wonderful Words: Hello, Watercolor Wonder, Mini Blooms
INK: Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, True Black
PAPER: white, Enchanted Evening, Raspberry Fizz
DIES: Wonderful Words: Hello
OTHER: Melissa Frances gems, embossing powder.
----------

Another one using the Wonderful Words: Hello stamps. Really quick and simple one.

Hello From the Heart card:
STAMPS: Wonderful Words: Hello
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, True Black
PAPER: whjite, Pure Poppy
DIES:  none
OTHER: none.

----------

The next card uses Irresistibly Ikat and My Mother, My Friend stamps. I used Sweet Blush ink, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold ink in the centers (I know it's hard to see in this pic!)

To the Best Friend card:
STAMPS: Irresistibly Ikat, My Mother My Friend
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, True Black
PAPER: white, Classic Kraft

DIES:  none
OTHER: sticker by Crate Paper.

----------

One more quick Irresistibly Ikat card...super simple. I used Ripe Avocado ink, Spring Rain ink, and Canyon Clay ink.

Birthday Wishes card:
STAMPS: Irresistibly Ikat
INK: Ripe Avocado, Canyon Clay, Spring Rain, True Black
PAPER: white, Classic Kraft
DIES: none
OTHER: none.

----------

And last, but not least, another Cutting Garden card mixed with a new set called Boutique Borders: Mother.
I used Background Basics: Woodgrain to stamp and emboss the kraft paper, then cut the flower and leaves from Cutting Garden. The frame is cut and stamped with Boutique Borders: Mother. I rolled the leaf stamps in the darker ink just on the edges to create depth to the die cuts.

Grandma card:
STAMPS: Cutting Garden, Boutique Borders: Mother, Background Basics: Woodgrain
INK: Fresh Snow, Classic Kraft, Dark Chocolate, True Black, Fine Linen
PAPER: Classic Kraft, white cardstock
DIES: Cutting Garden, Boutique Borders: Mother dies
OTHER: Melissa Frances pearls.

grateful for family...

I have a couple of fall cards to send out to my family - these are made with Lily Bee Designs' Autumn Spice line of papers and stamps.
On the first card, I used Papertrey Ink's Melon Berry ink to first stamp the circles, then Canyon Clay ink to stamp over the top with the hearts. I wasn't sure how these two colors would look together, but they turned out pretty cute. Also stamped the heart, circle and family from the Autumn Spice stamps and popped it up for dimension.

The "so grateful for you" was cut with my Cameo. I'm getting more and more use out of it, and am not so scared of it anymore! :) The doily was cut with the Doily Details die - I'm so addicted to that die set. Button is from A Flair For Buttons.

On the second card, I stamped the circles with Fine Linen, the outer rings with Classic Kraft and then the hearts with Canyon Clay ink. Family is stamped with Dark Chocolate ink. After all of the stamping was done, the card front was embossed with a Swiss Dots embossing folder and the Cuttlebug.

Speaking of the Cuttlebug machine, I used that along with Papertrey Ink's Counting My Blessings die collection to trim out the word from the Autumn Spice papers. A quick tip: you are probably wondering how I got the heart punched from papers that is the same heart that I stamped? I stamped the heart on the back of the patterned paper and cut it out.

Swing over to the Lily Bee blog to see a beautiful fall card by Andrea, as she shares a clever way to make a pumpkin from a doily stamp. :)

Release day...

Today is the 15th, and that means the new products for October go up for sale tonight at Papertrey Ink!

First, I want to apologize for the photos...my good camera is broken, so I'm using a camera that is not as good, and it's been raining and raining here, so these were taken in my basement with florescent lighting...so sorry. I will take new photos soon. Also, I kept some of my cards on the simpler side this month, since I spent so much time on the December Daily! :) I ran out of time to make them more elaborate. I hope you like a simple card now and then.

This card is made with Layered Postmarks: Holiday.

I cut out the tree with the Layered Postmarks: Holiday die and stamped the tree in the center of the opening.

A Merry Christmas to You card:
STAMPS: Layered Postmarks: Holiday
INK: Ripe Avocado, True Black
PAPER: Jillibean Soup - Christmas Eve Chowder (dot) and Pink Paislee's City Sidewalks (stripe), Ripe Avocado Pattern Pack by PTI, Pure Poppy Pattern Pack by PTI
DIES: Holly Jolly die collection
OTHER: twine, brad by MME.

--------

I really like how this one turned out, it's made with the new Peaceful Pinecones stamp set. I used a Mat Stack die to cut the center out and popped the Ripe Avocado cardstock up for dimension. It's all stacked onto a Card Base-ics die.

I also used brown flocking on the tops of the pinecones. Remember flocking? A little bit of glue was dabbed onto the tops of the pinecones and then the flocking was sprinkled over the top. Let it dry before adding it to your card!

Merry Christmas Pinecone card:
STAMPS: Peaceful Pinecones
INK: Dark Chocolate, Ripe Avocado, True Black
PAPER: Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate Pattern Pack, white cardstock, LilyBee (stripe)

DIES: Mat Stack 4 die, Card Base-ics #2 die
OTHER: button, twine, flocking.

--------

Here's a quick card made with Heart-2-Heart #9 for a wedding or anniversary. I stamped the little pink heart string three times and die cut the birds, stamped them with Soft Stone ink and popped them up for dimension. Added a saying and two little hearts from the set also. Everything is on cream cardstock for a soft look.

Mr. and Mrs. card:
STAMPS: Heart-2-Heart #9
INK: Soft Stone, Sweet Blush, True Black, Pure Poppy
PAPER: Vintage Cream cardstock
DIES: Heart-2-Heart #9
OTHER: none.

--------

This one is made with Snowflake Flurries. I used them as ornaments instead of snowflakes and stitched the strings onto the card with my sewing machine.

Pink and green make a cute retro-looking card. My girls saw a pink Christmas tree at Target the other day and want one for their bedrooms, which was the inspiration for this card!

Have a Joyous Holiday card:
STAMPS: Snowflake Flurries
INK: Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, True Black
PAPER: white cardstock, Limeade Ice Pattern Pack
DIES: none
OTHER: twine, Melissa Frances pearls.

--------

Snowflake Flurries was used once again as pretty accents to a birthday card, along with the Over Under Easy set. This set has many nice sentiments with some pretty swirl accents to add!

The Best is Yet to Come card:
STAMPS: Snowflake Flurries, Over Under Easy
INK: Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold, Sweet Blush
PAPER: Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, white, Aqua Mist
DIES: Layerz Mat Stack 1 die, Pinking Shears Border die,

OTHER: Doodlebug brads.
--------

Last is a Hanukkah card, and I struggled with this one a little bit, because I am not very familiar with this Jewish holiday. I wasn't sure if the Star of David should be a particular color? Forgive me if it is. I thought the Enchanted Evening, Aqua Mist and Autumn Rose colors were pretty together.
Happy Hanukkah card:
STAMPS: Menorah Medley
INK: True Black
PAPER: Aqua Mist, Enchanted Evening, Vintage Cream
DIES: Menorah Medley
OTHER: Autumn Rose button and felt, Vintage Cream ribbon, Lily Bee paper, corner rounder, floss.
