From the stars....

Happy Monday to you! I've been inspired lately by all the scrapbookers who tear the edges of their papers, love that distressed look. So on this page, I cut out the middle of the die cut circle, then folded the edges back and stitched around the circle. Pics are of my little one who is now 3 1/2. I cheated a little bit, these pics aren't exactly the night she was born (as the rub on says)...she was actually in the ICU for 3 days with a heart defect that she was born with. She looks so sweet with her chubby cheekies! I miss these days!

First day of spring!

Happy Spring! It's slowly warming up here. We still have a lot of snow in our yard, but it's melting little by little. I've been creating up a storm for April, and I still have so much to do within the next week! Also have some surprises to share with you soon!

One thing I can share is this little card set that was created for the Dream Street blog! It was made with the new Heartsong papers by Alexis Hardy and they are so yummy and fun!

I used some Krafty Creations kraft cards from Worldwin for these card bases. They were already in this shape like a paper bag! Quick and very easy. I just applied the Heartsong rub ons to the kraft paper. Love how they look against the kraft!
For the upright card (XOXO) which was the same style as the small one, I just turned it up and down and sewed along the sides, creating a pocket card.
Thank you for stopping by. Enjoy the first day of spring!

another spring card for you....

How to create this card:

I cut a Melissa Frances ~ Fresh Twist 12 x 12" circle die cut paper in half and then folded the ends in towards each other. (This way you can get two cards out of one sheet of paper!) Added a Fresh Twist sticker to the inside with a saying from the Spring Transfers. Next, I wrapped a green ribbon around the card and tied it in a knot. From the Spring Chipboard, I found a little half butterfly, painted it white very quickly, and added some Attic Treasures pearls. Lastly, I added another rub on from the Spring Transfers and a resin flourish from the Stately Applique Set. (all MF except ribbon)

Don't forget to stop in to the Melissa Frances blog and see all of the fun goodies we are creating! And if you have wanted to be a guest designer for Melissa Frances, now is your chance! Just send a few of your favorite projects to Sherelle....here is the information.

Have a great day!

Spring is in the air...

It was a beautiful day yesterday. We had fun outside getting some fresh air, and I'm getting the ITCH for spring! Can't wait to do some gardening again. I also had fun creating some spring cards with some of the new Attic Treasures and Fresh Twist lines from Melissa Frances over the weekend....Beauty of Spring card: I created a little kite on this one with some scraps and used a spring rub on for the "tail".
Melissa Frances products used:
Maxine, Charlotte, Peyton, Lilly, Abigail and Haley papers
White Pearls
Fresh Twist die cut
Doodles Transfers (bee and swirl)
Spring Fling Transfers (saying)
Other: Machine stitching and brown chalk

Spring is in the Air card: I created a little flower with the die cut and some ribbon loops. Added pom pom trim, a bit of embroidery floss and a silk flower in the middle. I used a hot glue gun for these items, as it works much better than adhesive.

Melissa Frances products used:
Maxine die cut paper and Lilly paper
White Pearls
Fresh Twist die cut
Spring Fling Transfers (saying)
Other: ribbon, silk flower, pom pom trim, embroidery floss

Some Bunny (Hearts) You card: I used 2 oval shaped stickers to create Easter eggs and glittered them up a bit! Cut the die cut journaling spot down and used as a little tag for the Happy Easter sentiment.

Melissa Frances products used:
Lilly paper
White Pearls
Fresh Twist die cut
Spring Fling Transfers (saying)
Thankful Date Prompt Stickers (pink oval)
Light Date Prompt Stickers (green oval)
Other: white cardstock, lace, twine, pearl string from craft supply
Glitter: Pixee Stix in Coconut by Pink Paislee
Brown Chalk

Boy card: I used the Attic Treasures die cut paper and cut it in half, then folded it in half again to create this unique card shape. Added some punched circles and stitched on them to resemble buttons. Created this one for the next challenge at Cardalicious this week: to create a card using circles, stars and stitching.

Melissa Frances products used:
Wilma die cut paper and Maxine (circles)
Fresh Twist die cuts
Baby Boy Transfers
Other: ribbon is Offray
, black embroidery floss

March card kit sneak peeks!

Here it is, the next card kit from Create My Keepsake, which will be available to members in a couple of days! The kit is fun and springy with Making Memories Flower Patch papers and chipboard (GORGEOUS!) and Cosmo Cricket's Girl Friday line as well! I just adore these little chipboard buttons that are already stitched on and the felt butterflies are so cool!

The papers are all 12x12, so you can certainly purchase it for a layout kit too (and are double sided except the die cut ones). So....I'd love it if you would leave me a comment and tell me:

1. Do you subscribe to any kits, and if so what do you like best in a kit? (Or what draws you to a particular kit?)

2. If you purchased a card kit, would you like to see examples of cards that are simple and quick to make, or more complex with new techniques that push your ability level?

I have a few copies of some scrappy mags to give away to 3 lucky people and will choose winners in a few days from those who leave a comment:

Cards Magazine - January 2009
Scrapbook Trends - February 2009
Simply Handmade - Dec/Jan 2009
Thank you so much for your input. I will be back soon to share pictures of my cards created with this beautiful kit! If you have any questions about the kit, feel free to ask or e-mail me: dflanders71@hotmail.com.
