Valentine pockets...

The January kits at Gossamer Blue were perfect for making "love-themed" projects, so I have some Valentine pockets I've made... great for holding a little treat, love notes, etc.

To make these pockets, I cut a piece of white cardstock 7.5" long x 4.25" high and folded it so that the fold in on the right of the pocket. I added type paper to the front and a piece of pom pom trim in between the layers on the right hand side before stitching. I trimmed the Kiss Kiss- Crate Paper gold heart die cut from January's main Gossamer Blue kit, so it would be off-set a bit on the pocket, wrapped seam binding around the card and tied in a bow on the right side, then finished off with a few more die cuts over the top. And of course some papers, die cuts and goodies tucked inside the pocket. (The Dear Lizzy - Watercolor Words are fun tucked inside! Love these, so much fun!!)

I love the colors this month, aren't they fabulous! Warm and classy.

On the second pocket, I did the same thing with the pom pom trim tucked in on the side before stitching it closed, then added a Watercolor Word and some die cuts and things over the top. A little collage.

Hope this inspires you to layer on your next project! When layering, be sure to choose large, medium and small patterns that coordinate. With the 3 different scales of patterns, it will be sure to be eye-pleasing!

New from Papertrey Ink! Introducing Monthly Moments...

If you are scrapbooker (or you inspire to give it a try) and love Papertrey Ink's products, I have some fun news for you! Papertrey Ink will be carrying pocket page scrapbooking products...a new line called Monthly Moments, which has inspired me to start scrapbooking in the "pocket page" fashion. Today I get to share with you my VERY first pocket pages!

By sharing my process with this kit, and how I approached it, I hope you'll see how easy it can be! The mini album I'm using is a Snap! 6x8" binder in black, available at Papertrey Ink soon.

When I received the Monthly Moments papers, dies and stamps, I first picked out the papers that caught my eye the MOST: the black polka dot, the gray and white circles and a couple of the heart journaling cards. And the free digital download with purchase of a kit! I placed them in the page protectors, alternating pockets, trying to balance out the colors and visual "weight" of the cards. (For example, if I had a lot of black on one side, I knew I needed some black on the other side to balance it.) I decided the other sections would be filled with photos.

On the left, I placed a 4x6 journaling card and a 4x6 photo of Kati writing out her Valentines the other morning. I journaled on a piece of vellum (a little trick I use when I'm scared of my hand writing and don't want to mess up writing directly on the card itself!) and stapled it onto the card. My approach to this is going to be simple, with a few added embellishments. I don't want it to get too complex. Added some stamping from the Monthly Moments: February stamps and the Monthly Moments: Days of the Week stamps. (The Be Mine circle is from the free printables!)

On the "Love This" card, I used the new Monthly Moments: Library card stamps and the Monthly Moments: February stamps to document a few details about her grade, teacher and class size.

The new Journaling card die was used to cut out this photo from a 4x6" photo. Love how it rounds the corners for you!

And see the "February"? That is a new die also called Monthly Moments: February die. I tucked it in a little pocket with sequins, die cut arrows from Cupid's Arrow , a piece of flair and a frame cut with Limitless Layers 2.25" Oval dies. (I will be stitching this pocket closed at the top to keep the goodies safely tucked inside.)

On the second page spread, I alternated journaling cards with photos again, balancing out the reddish-pink ones and the darker ones. I scrapped pics of both of my girls for a "what I love about you" page. I thought it would work well for a February theme!

I used one of the heart papers from the kit, but instead of using it as a paper, I trimmed the hearts out of it for heart "confetti" and tucked them free-flowingly into the large pocket. The stamping ("favorite photo" and "this is the best") is from a new stamp set called Monthly Moments: Slide Frame. A few flair pieces and wooden embellishments were added from my stash. 

I made some pull-out tags for journaling to tuck behind the photos. "What I Love About You" and the journaling lines are stamped with Monthly Moments: February! The "pull here" stamp is from Movers & Shakers Sentiments.

I don't know if you can tell, but the wooden embellishments are added with glue dots OUTSIDE the pockets! I'm living on the edge! :)

gift card wrap...

I'm back with a quick card that was on the Lily Bee blog today. Pocket cards are my favorite, especially during the holidays - tuck in a gift card, holiday photo, candy canes, shredded paper... whatever your heart desires to make it fabulous for the recipient!

First, I cut two Mega Mat Stack 4 pieces from Lily Bee's Christmas Cheer paper. I just run the die over my paper in my Cuttlebug machine to cut the front and back pieces. Next they were adhered on all sides to create the pocket, leaving the top open.

A Christmas Cheer journaling card was used on the front - it's hard to see in my photos, but it's a tan polka dot card with a blue snowflake on it. I simply added twine, a punched heart, a floral pin and felt photo corners. A Chrismtas Cheer stamp was added for the sentiment.

Voila! Hang it on your tree if you'd like until Christmas- makes a cute ornament as well. Stop over to the Lily Bee blog to see more holiday card ideas.

Release day.

It's the 15th, and that means we get to share all of our Papertrey Ink creations for the month! This was the first card I made when my goodies arrived. I LOVE the hexagons and can see a serious addiction forming!

I used the Hexagon Cover Plate with Soft Stone cardstock. I left some of the Soft Stone hexagons in and added other stamped hexagons with the Happy Hexagons stamp set!

The next card was made with the new Lovely Layers stamps and dies. I was feeling the purple again.

I used two 3" envelopes as the card base, punched two tiny holes and tied them together with twine. The new Limitless Layers 2.25" Square die fits right in the pocket! I cut it from Soft Stone cardstock and added some teal felt leaves with a pin.  (You can add an earring back to the pin if you are worried about the recipient being poked. Or just trim the end off with scissors to remove the point.)

On the inside, I tucked another little note with the Limitless Layers die again. I embossed some sayings on the envelope and added some hexagons for color.

Here is the new Framed Out #5 stamps and die in action. I cut the frame from the Fine Linen Pattern Pack and used Sweet Blush, Pure Poppy inks for the flowers and sentiment, and yellow (Harvest Gold) for the leaves. Who says leaves have to be green? :)

Next is Background Basics: Rainbows and a We Go Together sentiment.

I started by stamping the Pure Poppy ones with Orange Zest in the middles, then the Summer Sunrise ones with Harvest Gold centers. The clouds are cut with a die and the heart is cut with the Tiny Tags die. Love these happy little rainbows!

A Harvest Gold star is popped up with dimension. I thought to add the file folder tab at the top to go with the saying "for the record".

I used Spring Moss, Spring Rain and Harvest Gold for the stars in the background, then stamped the sun rays over the top with Soft Stone ink (from Hello Sunshine).

The last card features the little banners and saying from Heart-2-Heart #5. I actually used the big star from Military Stars (yellow one) to stamp all over the card. Then I cut the little banners out and stamped them in all different colors, and placed them over the top of the big stars to form my own little patchwork looking stars! In other words, I used the large stamped stars as a guideline to build stars with banner shapes!

I added a Super Stars Border Die cut from Summer Sunrise paper.

Celebrate Star card:

Flowers made from hearts.

 

Today's card was made with the Front and Center die #1. I first made the pocket by die cutting the Front and Center with vellum, folded it in half, and embossed it with a woodgrain pattern.

Remember the Heart-2-Heart #3 stamps? I stamped them in a circle to form a flower with Harvest Gold ink and did the same with the small heart from the set with Hibuscus Burst ink.

Some new Smash tape that I picked up at Target finished the top of the pocket front nicely!
The flower is made with the Frilly Flower dies, pink flower is Maya Road and the little wooden spool is by Pink Paislee.

I added a little loop of ribbon to easily pull out the card from the pocket. Chipboard is My Mind's Eye "Follow Your Heart"..love this line. Well, enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by. xo

Pink Paislee's hot products.

Today I have a blog post up at the Pink Paislee blog. We are focusing on some of our "Hot Products" from each line this week. My assignment was to highlight the SHE ART line today by Pink Paislee, specifically the Doily Mask and the Press Ons.

I used the Doily Mask with several mist colors and sprayed the mist over the mask onto white cardstock, then cut the doilies out to form this colorful card set with some "petal" card bases by Cut Cardstock! I used Papertrey Ink ribbon in Soft Stone around the cards. 

I wanted to package up the card set somehow, so I made a little pocket to tuck them into.

I cut a little saying, "Wonderful You", with the Silhouette Cameo machine and formed a pocket from the cardstock, and machine stitched the sides with a zig zag. I cut a little tag with Papertrey Ink's Limitless Layers 2 1/4" Oval Die Collection.

You could wrap up the entire thing with cellophane if you wanted!
