I haven't been scrapping much at ALL over the holiday, so I don't have anything scrappy to share... our little family has gotten a wee bit addicted to Rock Band 2 the past few days, so the Flanders' band has been rockin' it out! he he What a fun game! See you in 2009!

A holiday wish...
Finally finished my shopping and my wrapping yesterday...phew! Such a relief to have that done! Today was cleaning and tomorrow will be baking and then off to the in-laws for Christmas eve. Can't believe it's finally here! My girls are counting down the "sleeps". :)
Over the weekend, I had a chance to play with my Pink Paislee goodies. Can you believe I actually made some layouts? I don't do them often, but when I do, I really have a lot of fun. That is going to be one of my New Year's resolutions...to not make quite as many cards and altered projects, even though I love to do them...and focus more on getting the memories down in my scrapbooks once again.
I combined lots of different Pink Paislee lines here..Pop Fashion and Sweet Cakes papers, along with Tinsel Town stamps (snowflake and snow ticket) and rub ons (swirl). This is Kati during our first snow, Dec. 7th. She saw the snow when she woke up, then she and Taylor got ready and went right outside first thing in the morning!
I sprayed some "snow" from the craft store onto an acrylic snowflake page from Maya Road and sprayed a clear sealer over it before adding it to my page. Kind of a fun effect!
I ran out of black letter stickers and really wanted my title to be in black, so I had to be a bit creative. I used f's and cut the tops off of them for the t's. For the e, I used a 3 backwards.
On the "Love Me" layout, I used some Sweet Cakes papers, journaling postcard, and rub ons by Pink Paislee. My girls are so funny.. one of them is always trying to love the other one and it goes back and forth like that all day. =) I added the little bee rub on right over the letter stickers. The hearts are Melissa Frances and the butterfly button is Making Memories.
I saw this ornament at 2 peas, and I was so inspired! I tried it out with strips of photos of my girls printed on a 4 x 6 piece of photo paper, but when I wrapped them around like she did, it created a very small ball. So...instead I found some styrofoam balls in my stash and decided to add strips of Tinsel Town papers, ribbons and a piece cut out from the Tinsel Town Postcards. Added some Pop Fashion sticker borders also for a little pizzaz. lol
The blue/white ornament below was the first one I created, and even though I like the blue/white color combo, I like the other one better. I learned that I didn't want the styrofoam to show through, so if you make one of these, wrap the ribbons first and then add the paper and photos to the top. Then the photos don't get covered up so much by the papers and ribbons. The papers on here are Making Memories Poolside.
For a base I used part of a ribbon spool covered with more of the MM paper. To attach the strips, I just used pins from the fabric store at the tops and bottoms of the strips.
Well, this will probably by my last post until after Christmas, so wishing you all a Happy Holiday!! Stay safe and enjoy the magic of the holiday, and of course, don't forget to take tons of pictures to scrap. Merry Christmas!

Tis the Season...
Been finishing up my Christmas shopping, I'm still not done...why oh why do I wait til the last minute?! I'm such a procrastinator. I did find some super cute things today though. Kohl's has some terrific deals going on right now. A $44 sweater for $8! Heck, yeah! :) Somehow I earned "Kohl's cash" too. Not sure how or why, but they gave me a $10 gift certificate to use next time. Love that store! At least I finished shopping for my side of the family, so I can ship their gifts off tomorrow. Christmas cards are finally done too! Phew! Next is going to be the baking!
I only have a couple of things to share this time around. I wish I had more to show you. Do you ever feel in a funk during the holidays when there is sooo much to do? I've been creating for the Melissa Frances catalog and hopefully can share those items soon. The other ladies created projects that will just blow you away once again! They are so talented. Here is a card that I created for the blog. It is a pocket card that will hold a photo, Christmas letter or gift card...or all of the above!
1. To create this card, cut a piece of white cardstock 8 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" high.
2. Dry emboss with a polkadot stencil if desired to get the raised dot effect. (I used the Cuttlebug.)
3. Fold the card in towards the middle and overlap slightly. Adhere the seam going down the middle and also adhere the bottom shut to create a pocket. I cut a strip of the white cardstock and rounded the edges to attach to the bottom of the card.
4. Next, use a round punch to punch a notch at the top. Cut a strip of the Amanda paper around the design in the paper about 4 inches wide and adhere horizontally.
5. Add a piece of material or ribbon tied in a knot, along with a piece of twine and a Christmas sticker from the Christmas Cardstock Stickers.
6. Add green glitter to a chipboard tree from the Glitter Christmas chipboard (it comes white). If you want to spray it with a sealant to prevent the glitter from coming off which I did here, try RoyalCoat Decoupage Paper Sealer. Let dry, then add it to your card with a glue dot.
7. Lastly, apply a "Tis the Season" rub on from the Christmas Transfers.
The next card was created for the next challenge over at Card-a-licious! The challenge was to create a Christmas card with a Christmas icon on it, such as a tree, wreath, etc. I chose to make a little angel. Lots of Melissa Frances supplies on this one too, rub on, resin wings, chipboard holly and some of the new Christmas paper!PEACE on EARTH instructions:
1. Cut card base from white cardstock and emboss with swirl stencil (used the Cuttlebug).
2. Use a bowl to trace onto the blue patterned paper for the angel's body. Cut out and adhere.
3. Attach resin wings, holly chipboard and 3 red buttons for the berries on the holly. Adhere Spanish moss to the bottom of the angel.
4. Wrap wire around a pencil several times. Flatten with your fingers, leaving one end hanging down. Attach to card with a glue dot for the "halo".
5. Use circle punch to create the angel's face, coloring cheeks pink with chalk, and add eyes and a mouth. (She's singing. hee hee)
6. Attach rub on saying to the top.

Holiday cards...
If you still have holiday cards to make, you will love this next card kit from Create My Keepsake! The card kit e-mail has been sent to members for purchasing, so if you would like to buy a membership, Lisa has opened up a few more memberships here. (You can view the kit contents in my last post.) I made 5 cards this time around and had a ton of product left...was having so much fun! (Will be in Paper Crafts, Holiday Cards and more, 2009.)
We experienced a power outage Thursday evening and all day Friday. Usually we are out of power for a good 3 days when we get an ice storm like that, but luckily our power came back on pretty quickly this time. We had a few trees down, this one is in our driveway. The family and I had fun just spending quality time together reading, doing puzzles and playing games. You don't realize how much you count on technology these days until it's gone. ha We hooked up the generator and had heat, at least. Hope you are enjoying your weekend,

Ornament inspiration...
Today I have one more ornament featured on the Pink Paislee blog made with their Tinsel Town line. I used a large Making Memories chipboard snowflake and covered it in snowflake paper and machine stitched down each arm to hold the paper on. On the edges, I used Coconut glitter (Pixee Stix) to create the look of snow. To add softness, the Tinsel Town ribbon was curled around the snowflake. The "Merry Christmas" was cut from the Postcards paper and a rub on swirl added. Another rub on snowflake was applied to a piece of a transparency and then cut out. The small chipboard snowflake is by Melissa Frances. I hated to give this one away, but it went to a great cause! The Pink Paislee gals raised money for charity with our ornaments to benefit Operation Christmas Child, you can read more about it on the blog here.
The next card kit is going to be available soon from Create My Keepsake. I'm so excited about this one! The papers are October Afternoon's Good Cheer line and are double sided...they are just so darn adorable. I'll show you my cards soon. If you haven't signed up for a card kit membership and wish to, let me know and I'll see if Lisa has any more memberships available. The kits have been selling fast and are usually gone by the time the card kit members shop. :) Lisa packs these kits so full! I LOVE them!!
I'm working on my cards right now... just thought I'd pop in and show you the kit really quick. OK, back to work! Thanks for stopping in. Have a terrific day!

Let it snow...
Man, is it ever cold here! We woke up this morning to 6 degrees and got a dusting of snow this weekend. The girls woke up Sunday, and the first thing they did was to get dressed and run out and play in the snow! Their faces lit up so brightly when they looked out the window first thing in the morning, so cute! I wish I had that kind of excitement about snow. lol
I have a few Melissa Frances projects to share with you. The first is a styrofoam tree shape that I covered with Carol Ann paper by Melissa Frances. I tied a bow in some wide satin ribbon and stuck a pin through it to hold it onto the top of the styrofoam tree. Lastly added a chipboard snowflake and sticker by MF as well. I think these would be so cute with a few of them together on a silver tray with ornaments around them! You don't have to use Christmas paper either, I kindof like the shabby look this paper gives.
This little snowflake box was done for the Melissa Frances blog today. You can see directions on how to make it here: www.melissafrances.typepad.com. To create the snowflake on top of the box, I cut a styrofoam ball in half, painted it with white acrylic paints and then made some little arms for my snowflake out of white felt.
Wouldn't it be fun to add a hot cocoa mix or another wintery item like scarf/mitten set inside this box for a special someone? :)
The next card was for the "Design Team Inspiration" for this week over at CreateMyKeepsake. The challenge is to use fabric on a card, layout, or project. I layered some felt and material from my stash and hand-stitched around it. The rub on saying is added right onto the material.
It's a little Valentine-ish...but what the heck. It was fun to make! :) Have a good night!
