Make It Market kit: You're a Masterpiece...

Papertrey Ink has another brand new card kit coming out on January 5th, and this one is so much fun! (As they all are!) HA! You're a Masterpiece was put together by Betsy Veldman. This collection of products can be used in such a large variety of ways! Whether you make small works of art as a gift to be displayed on a handmade easel, or  send along all the bits and pieces for the recipient to put together their own masterpiece, you will love all the possibilities!
I made a few cards with the kit to share some sneak peeks with you of what's inside.

First up is a birthday card. I used the paintbrush stamp in the new You're a Masterpiece stamp set with all different colors of stamping ink onto watercolor paper. I stamped the paintbrush "tips" different colors and then used the matching inks with water to draw a paint line for each. A sentiment from the set finishes off the front of the card after the inks were dry.
Here's the inside, it says, "or at least this little canvas".

The kit comes with mini canvases, which I left in the wrapper and tied it up with a piece of twine, then used one die from the kit to die cut the holes to attach the mini paintbrush! Mini paintbrushes are included in the kit!
To paint the lines with matching ink colors, I dabbed each ink color onto a stamping block and used a paintbrush to paint the lines onto the inside of my card. When dry, I stamped the black portion of the sentiment over the top.

Since the card is pretty thick with the mini canvas inside, I tucked it into one of the bags from the kit to give to the recipient.
On the Masterpiece card below, I used the new easel die in the kit with gray cardstock from my stash.
I stamped the background frame in black and also stamped the butterfly onto the watercolor mini papers in the kit. I used some water to blend the butterfly. The background is stamped with more butterflies in the kit with New Leaf ink and Harvest Gold inks. The front panel is popped up with dimensional adhesive.
Last, a quick one made with the heart stamps!

I used Tropical Teal, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise and New Leaf inks, stamped the hearts, then used water and a paintbrush to blend the hearts and make them look painted.
After it was dry, I added the black stamped sentiment to the front from the stamp set and an enamel dot from the kit.

Bits & pieces...

As a cardmaker, do you buy 6x6" patterned paper packs? I've been getting those more often lately and loving all of the smaller patterns and how well they work for cards. I have a couple of cards up on the Gossamer Blue is a little sneak peek.
I've done a bit of stamping and embossing onto vellum and punched out some hearts. With the negative of the punch, I used it as a mask and sprayed over the heart mask with Graphite mist by Tattered Angels. This is still one of my favorite mists, it's a little lighter than it looks here in the pictures, very soft and pretty. Anyhoo, stop by and visit the Gossamer Blue blog for all kinds of inspiration!

Are you all ready for the holidays? I'm not quite there yet, but getting company on Saturday, so I better be after tomorrow! Have a very happy holiday, crafty friends!

Papertrey Ink December Freebie: Pretty Petals...

Papertrey Ink has a new stamp set for December called Pretty Petals that you can get for free when you have a qualifying purchase. See Nichole's blog for more details!
I stamped the flowers from Pretty Petals in Aqua Mist ink onto watercolor paper and added just a touch of water to blend it a tiny bit. Then the leaves were stamped in New Leaf ink and Spring Moss ink. I dipped my paintbrush in water and grabbed some ink from the Tropical Teal ink pad to paint the background. When dry, I stamped the sentiment from Pretty Petals.
I can't wait to see what the rest of the team has created with Pretty Petals!

Release Day: December...

The Papertrey Ink team is back to show you some more new stamps and dies being released this month! They'll all be released tonight at 10 pm EST. First up is the Drips & Dribbles stamp set. I used the coffee rings as O's for my XO cards!
I stamped the O's where I wanted them first with Raspberry Fizz ink, then I used a paintbrush with Raspberry Fizz reinker and some water and painted on matching X's. I also used Love You to Pieces: Additions stamps and Keep It Simple: Valentine stamps. You could stamp this XO pattern onto white wrapping paper and wrap gifts with it, how cute would that be. Maybe tape a candy onto the back of these XO cards for little school Valentines!

Next is Birthday Classics: January and the new Cover Plate: In the Woods.

The die for this house was in the Tinsel & Tags Trimmings kit. Here I just used the stamps with Sweet Blush, Classic Kraft and Scarlet Jewel inks.
I added an American Crafts DIY Shop tag that I stamped "home" on and some fine glitter on top of the houses.

This card is made with Love Notes. Can't wait to give this to my mom and dad for their 44th anniversary in a few days! They are definitely an inspiration to my brother and I.
On this card, I used the same watercolor pencil technique you saw in my video a couple of days ago. This time I used orange, yellow and green pencils, and I put more water on my flowers to allow them to spread out a bit. You'll want to let them dry before you think you need to add more water, because they do spread out as they dry and will look different in about 15 minutes! Don't add too much right away. I added polkadots with my yellow pencil, then colored in the center of the card with yellow, let it dry, and after it was dry, stamped the sentiment with Love Notes.
Your Love Is An Inspiration card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Love Notes
INK: True Black; Soft Granite by Hero Arts

Next is a Valentine card made with Little Human. I die cut the pieces, stamped them and added them to one of Betsy's Love You to Pieces papers.
This one cracks me up, because Kati used to say this when she was little, "My heart is BEEPING!" Oh, I miss those times when my kids were little and the cute things they used to say!

On this next card with the heart flowers, I used the new Hello There stamps along with Type Strips II (you). I punched 2" circles, then die cut the hearts out of the centers with Hello There dies.
A couple of the hearts were backed with patterned papers, and the largest one is stamped. The Hello There stamps were used to stamp "love" repeatedly onto the circles as well.

Introducing Love You to Pieces...

Today we are back to introduce more new products coming out this month at Papertrey Ink! This is the Love You to Pieces collection of papers, stamps and dies created by Betsy Veldman. You are going to love these innovative products and concepts!
I've created an interactive Valentine. Let me tell you more about it!

First, I have used the Love You to Pieces Foldable Envelope Wraps for girls that were designed to fold up to hold the interactive pieces. (There is a boys one too with a cute airplane!) I die cut the front with a new heart zipper die and folded up the trifold envelope. The front is stamped with the sentiment and hearts with Love You to Pieces: Fox.
When opened, you can see it's a trifold. I did some stamping on the lower flap with Love You to Pieces: Fox and Love You to Pieces: Additions.
Inside, I used the fox die cut to cut the pieces out of a Papertrey Ink coaster. I stamped the fox body parts and tucked this inside the Valentine. It fits inside perfectly! This will be the interactive part that the recipient can put together to make this little stand up fox you see here!
All of the pieces on the coaster were stamped with the Love You to Pieces: Fox stamps.

So the recipient will punch out the pieces and assemble the little fox! Adorable, don't you agree?! And such a fun way to give a Valentine! Betsy also has instructions you can attach inside to let the recipient know how to assemble the cute fox.

 Foxy Valentine:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Love You to Pieces: Fox, Love You to Pieces: Additions
INK: Orange Zest, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, True Black
PAPER: Love You to Pieces Envelope Wraps - Girls
DIES: Love You to Pieces
OTHER: Papertrey Ink coasters, twine.

Next up is a quick stamped card with the Love You to Pieces: Airplane stamps onto a Foldable Envelope Wrap for boys.
I tucked in a candy and wrapped the bottom with washi tape.
Side view (below)...even the side flaps are cute! There are 3 different foldable paper designs in each paper pack - 3 in the boys paper pack and 3 in the girls paper pack (24 sheets total in each).
 Fly Valentine:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Love You to Pieces: Airplane
INK: Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, Sweet Blush
PAPER: Love You to Pieces Envelope Wraps - Boys
DIES: none
OTHER: washi tape, candy.

Hope you've enjoyed this Valentine of my favorite holidays to make things for! To see more "Love You to Pieces" inspiration, stop by the other PTI gals' blogs:

Introducing Big Hugs...

We are in the midst of the Papertrey Ink countdown, and today we have a new stamp set and coordinating dies to show you that will be released on Dec. 15th at 10 pm EST called Big Hugs. Who couldn't use a hug card, right? I know there are days when I could sure use one. :)
On this card, I've used watercolor pencils to create the background, added the "hugs" die cut with the new Big Hugs dies and used the Big Hugs stamps for the sentiment.
Rainbow Hugs card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Big Hugs
INK: True Black; Soft Granite by Hero Arts
PAPER: Watercolor paper- Canson
DIES: Big Hugs
OTHER: Watercolor pencils.

On this next one, I cut out the Hugs out of watercolor paper and left it out, then backed it with another piece of paper. I drew my own flowers and leaves with the watercolor pencils and added water over the top to make them look painted. I've got a video below to show you how to do this!

Because You Can Never Have Too Many card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Big Hugs
INK: True Black
PAPER: Watercolor paper - Canson
DIES: Big Hugs
OTHER: Watercolor pencils, sequins - Pretty Pink Posh.

Last, I used the Make It Market: Beautiful Brushstrokes stamps from an older Make It Market kit from Papertrey Ink with Big Hugs to create this one. These flowers were stamped onto watercolor paper instead of drawn on like I did with the first two cards.

When My Arms Can't Reach card:
(All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Big Hugs, Beautiful Brushstrokes
INK: True Black, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, New Leaf, Spring Moss;
Soft Granite - Hero Arts

DIES: Edgers #4 Collection
OTHER: Watercolor pencils, twine, stapler.

I've put together a video of the first two card backgrounds if you'd like to see my process working with these watercolor pencils. Enjoy!

Monthly Moments: December...

This month on Dec. 15th, Papertrey Ink will be releasing it's Monthly Moments collection for December! It comes with a paper pad of December journal cards, a stamp set, a December word die and a Journal Card 7 die. Or you can choose to purchase the items separately. Here's a little look at a "December Daily" journal that I started with these products.
On the front cover,  I used one of the Journal Cards and dressed it up with a few layers, a pipe cleaner candy cane, sequins, fine glitter, a strip of washi tape (stripe) and some stamping with the Dec. stamps (Dec 25). Pretty easy, yet the layers add so much depth to the design!
The paper snowflakes I used under the corners of the cover were found in a package at Michaels...of course, you could cut your own, but I really like how the roundness of the snowflakes soften the look of the front cover's corners!
Using the Monthly Moments: December stamps, I dressed up this "Dear Santa" page that I made to create a place where the kiddos could write their letters to Santa, or you could simply attach their letters behind this card with a few notes on here about their wish lists.
I also used the Postmarks stamps ("handle with care" and the wavy lines) in addition to the Monthly Moments: December stamps.
Here I attached another snowflake to a white piece of cardstock, made a little stamped banner and attached a candy cane with a piece of washi tape. Added some stamping and a tab on the right of the page.
A page for gathering around the Christmas tree using the die cuts and stamps...
Next is a page that I created with the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 7 die. I turned it into a pocket by cutting two of them, one from white cardstock that I stamped with snowflakes, and the front is cut from an acrylic sheet. (The sheets the stamps come on). Then I stitched the front and back together, added sequins inside and some stamping to decorate the front. Last, a tiny bit of fine glitter to the front to make it more magical.
Added more stamping to this one with some snowflake backgrounds and a few of the sayings! The candy behind the "merry" is stamped with Candy Cane Christmas.
Last, I thought it would be fun to include a page(s) for documenting special holiday baking recipes. I used a real recipe card as my base and added a notebook edge and washi tape at the top with a snowflake Journal Card in the background. You can add as many recipes inside as you'd like by just poking holes and tucking them onto the ring of the album. Wouldn't it be fun to have a photo with each recipe?
