an idea for twine

Twine always lends a helping hand to any project! :) Here I've used twine from Trendy Twine's Original Mini Pack of colors. I cut a Pink Paislee - London Market die cut in half and punched holes on the two ends to hang a little paper heart banner with the "Strawberry Cupcake" twine.
I really like how the kraft paper looks with the fun colors! The pink and white twine shows up nicely on the kraft. Twine can be used for so many things, but hanging things with the twine is one of my favorite ways to use it! You can punch any shape from patterned paper, then use a small hole punch to create a hole for hanging. String them on the twine, and you have a cute banner for a card or layout!

Today is the last post for my guest spot over at Basic Grey, and it's been fun working with their products! My layout is made with their new Plumeria line and is their sketch for the week. Let me help you complete a scrapbook layout quickly by providing you with a starting point! Simply grab your photos and favorite product, and you’ll be done in no time!
I love this photo of Kati, and I know I've used it before, but when I look at it I see a happy girl, a lot like me, she's usually very positive and kind to people... usually so very content no matter where she is or what she's doing. I thought "She's an extension of my happiness" would be a fun title for this page. It also has a double meaning to me, that when my husband and I decided to try for one more baby, we were so happy in that time of our lives. Had just moved into a house together and everything seemed like the right time. Cheesy? I know...a little bit! I'm really sappy like that....
Here I used the Plumeria Stickers as a little embellishment next to my photo. I die cut some of the papers with the Love Lives Here die by Papertrey Ink and scattered them down the page. The purple cardstock helps ground the photo a little bit. I wrote the journaling on a die cut Half & Half tag and tucked it under the photo!
I absolutely love the grey/purple color combo!

Here is the sketch if you'd like to play along this week - leave a link to your layout or card at the Basic Grey blog HERE!
Thank you to Basic Grey for having me be a part of your blog this month!!

Join Kelly Purkey in another installment of her popular Sketchbook class! Sketchbook 4 is a four week class filled with fresh sketches, easy instructions, beautiful examples, and lots of fun. This class is designed to be used at any time and over + over again when you need inspiration.
Sketchbook is different from any other sketch class out there because Kelly and the contributors offer design tips and detailed explanation of what makes a page work. It's more than sketches - they’ll deliver valuable pointers for creating great layouts.

By the end of the class, you'll have a complete sketchbook of 12 original sketches, 38 layouts, and an ADDITIONAL 38 sketches based on those creative pages. All the examples are brand new layouts, exclusive to this class... you won't see them anywhere else! You will be receiving an example layout from Kelly for each of the sketches, along with two example layouts from a Studio Calico Design Team member and some of your favorite SC Guest Designers.

I have a spot in the class to give away! Please leave a comment and tell me what are your favorite types of paper crafting classes you've taken, or what kind of classes you are most interested in?

Hi everyone! As you might have heard, Pink Paislee is the manufacturer for Heidi Swapp's new Sugar Chic, Memory File, Color Magic, No Limits and Day Glo lines. Click HERE to see Heidi's new product catalog and all of the new fun stuff! She always has unique and exciting ideas!

As a Pink Paislee design team member, we are also working with Heidi's new products on occasion! On the Heidi Swapp blog, we are focusing on 3 of her new items:

1. the Day Glo Tapes,
2. the Trimmings,
3. and the Instaframes.

Since I haven't done a layout about Facebook yet, I thought it would be fun to use these Colorful Instaframes to hold some of my recent Facebook statuses. I added the tab stickers to the bottom and some of the rub on sayings. "Fabulous" is a also in the new Memory File Clear Stamps. The little chat stick is fun too, huh? That is from the Sugar Chic - Stix.
You can see I used the new Trimmings (yellow chevron border) on the side of my layout as a border to "hold" all the goodies, so they are not appearing to "float" on my page and are grounded a bit. The green Day Glo tape worked awesome for attaching the Trimmings. The yellow tape is layered over the Pink Paislee Wood Shop alphas. ((Oh, this tape would be fun for a "boo boo" layout as a band-aid! Ha))

I also used some Day Glo Tape at the top of my layout for a little bit of color! (orange, green and yellow)
Aren't these Instaframes cute! The Wood Shop alphas were painted with a turquoise paint from the craft supply store, and I threw in some older Sweetness alphas by Pink Paislee also for the title work. Stop over to Heidi's blog to see two other projects (cards and a mini album) also using the new DayGlo Tapes, Instagrams and Trimmings. xo.

There are so many different ways you can create with layers in your scrapbooking and card making. Stop over to the Pink Paislee blog all this week to read several different ways by the team members! I'm impressed at how differently everyone's take was on the "Layered Look" theme this week!

I decided to show how layers can be added with stamping on these two cards. On this card, first I adhered two die cuts from London Market Ephemera (post card and flowers). Next, I stamped the postage stamp with red ink onto pink patterned paper from the London Market 6x6 Paper Pack and cut it out. I adhered it, then stamped the black postage mark over the top. The black frame is another Ephemera piece also that I folded in half over the top of the card! (It was actually placed there to cover up a stamping mistake!) Stamps are from the Spring Jubilee stamp set.
Other ways to layer include patterned paper bits, tape and buttons and twine like I did here. Am loving this twine by Trendy Twine! I wrapped it around the card top before adhering to the card base and tied on a Wooden Spool Button by Pink Paislee.
On the second card, I used the Spring Jubilee stamps again and first stamped with Jenni Bowlin's Chewing Gum ink (pink). Next, I used Papertrey Ink's Pure Poppy to stamp the flowers in red over the top. A similar design was used for the sentiment in New Leaf ink by Papertrey Ink, and I stamped again and again without reinking to get a lighter version of the sentiment. Really creates dimension to the eye, without actually adding dimension!
The Trendy Twine is used here to create butterfly antennas - just wrapped it around the butterfly and tied, leaving two tails for the antennas. I also stitched around the die cut to add dimension and interest to a plain 'old die cut. :) (Oops, one antennae is falling down in my pic.)
Visit the Trendy Twine blog to see more twine ideas, and the Pink Paislee blog to see more layering ideas! :)

What conveys "party" more than confetti? I have a serious addiction to confetti and brads lately. I took out some Basic Grey brads and my hole punchers and went to town creating a confetti feel on a little pocket card!

To make the pocket, I folded a piece of vellum up and stitched the sides with a zigzag stitch with my sewing machine. Vellum is very easy to stitch. I used different sized hole punchers to create a fun confetti border on the pocket.

I made a white cardstock tag to tuck inside that says, "Thank you for coming to my party!" I added some Basic Grey's Plumeria papers and stickers...love the purples and oranges. I found the colors bright and happy, great for a birthday!

Stop over to the Basic Grey blog to play along with their "confetti challenge" and to see a full supply list for this project.

It's the 15th, and you know what that means! The Papertrey Ink team gets to show you the rest of the new things they have made with the new stamp sets for March!

This card is made with the new Framed Out #2 stamps and die.
I stamped two of the frames, and then used felt to cut out the red frame. Love how easy it is to cut felt with these dies and how the felt adds one more texture! I cut up one of the star borders to add a design to one of the frames.
A Big Congrats card:
Stamps: Framed Out #2, Tremendous Treats: Birthday (eat cake)
Ink: Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy
Paper: white cardstock, Aqua Mist Pattern Pack
Dies: Super Stars Borders, Framed Out #2
Other: felt by PTI - Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy, PTI twine.

Next up is Back Pocket Basics. I couldn't help but make a "pocket" card to go with the saying!
I brushed the Vintage Cream ink pad over the white cardstock to soften it a bit.
Pocketful of Tweet Birthday Wishes card:
Stamps: Back Pocket Basics
Ink: Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate, Blueberry Sky, Harvest Gold, Pure Poppy, Melon Berry, Classic Kraft
Paper: white and Pure Poppy cardstock, patterns by My Mind's Eye
Dies: Back Pocket Basics

This set is called Little Bitty Bird Additions.

I made a shaped card with the Mega Mat Stack 1 die and cut out the little fence from the bird set. Oh, see the light brown fence on the pink paper? That is the new Background Basics: Wrought Iron set. I thought it would make a cute fence to go with my gate.
Let Your Heart Sing card:
Stamps: Little Bitty Bird Additions, Background Basics: Wrought Iron
Ink: Classic Kraft, True Black, Pure Poppy
Paper: Lilybee Designs
Dies: Mega Mat Stack 1, Mat Stack1
Other: Twinery twine.

This next card is just a silly, fun, kiddo card. This monkey from the Tremendous Treats: Birthday set cracked me up and I HAD to try him out! I stamped him on kraft and cut him out.
Please excuse my messy stitching. My machine messed up and I didn't have time to start all over with this one!
Hey, Party Animal card:
Stamps: Tremendous Treats: Birthday
Ink: Dark Chocolate, True Black
Paper: Lilybee Designs (gray), kraft cardstock, Dark Chocolate Pattern Pack by PTI

Here the tie from the World's Greatest set makes an awesome fish! :) My father-in-law is a great fisherman and grandpa, so this one's for him...

I made my own little fishing pole with patterned paper and twine. To create the waves, I simply used a circle punch and punched along the edge randomly.

World's Greatest Grandpa card:
Stamps: World's Greatest
Ink: New Leaf, True Black
Paper: cardstock by PTI - Hawaiian Shores, Blueberry Sky, and Simply Chartreuse, Dark Chocolate Pattern Pack and Aqua Mist Pattern Pack by PTI, Lilybee Designs (green and big dot)

A super simple card stamped with the World's Greatest set again.... I almost threw this one away, but I thought maybe someone out there could get some inspiration from it.
World's Greatest Dad:
Stamps: World's Greatest
Ink: True Black, Hawaiian Shores, New Leaf

And last, but not least On The Links. This one will be for my dad soon! He loves golf!

I made my own little flag from patterned paper and bent it a bit for dimension.
