new Pink Paislee and a coffee filter background...

Today I had the chance to work with Pink Paislee's new collections and created a layout using the new Luxe line, Cottage Farms and Pink Paislee's new She Art printed Coffee Filters (text paper you see on the layout). My assignment was to work with the sketch this week on the Pink Paislee blog.

The first thing I do when I open new goodies is to pick out which pieces I like the best and begin layering them, playing with color. I decided to keep my two layered stacks I made and add 2 photos in the other corners. Next, I wanted to try the printed coffee filters (the TEXT paper is really thin like a coffee filter), so I carefully removed what I had done so far on my layout. I used a Butter Cream acrylic paint to paint the edges of the coffee filter to my layout, then added everything back on over the top.

I added some gold Luxe heart rub ons and used several pieces from the Cottage Farms Ephemera pack to create a little ribbon badge.

An Ephemera frame was trimmed in half to use half on the top of the layout and the other half on the bottom and a gold title from the Luxe line. These alphas are so pretty in person! You can find Pink Paislee's new lines HERE.

Kati has had a tough time in school this year, but this day when I took the pics, she woke up out of bed and sprung up to get dressed, couldn't wait to go to school. Very unusual for her. It was Valentine's Day, and she couldn't wait to pass out her treats to everyone. Such a kind and giving heart. Love this girl to pieces!

a thank you card set...

I made a little card set just for fun today! It felt good to make something just because I wanted to and just because I felt creative, not for any assignments. :) I didn't get a chance to play with the new Mini Blooms stamp set and dies as much as I wanted to when they first arrived, so I wanted to sit down and play with them a bit.

On my first card, I used the banner from Papertrey Ink's In Stitches dies and wanted to layer it over the Mini Blooms flowers, so I cut some of the Mini Blooms and stamped them in Melon Berry, Pure Poppy and Sweet Blush inks. The leaves are stamped in New Leaf and Spring Moss inks. You can even layer the blooms like I did here by the banner.

I cut the "you" from the Wonderful Words dies with a dark gray cardstock from my stash and stamped "thank" from the Wonderful Additions Words in Soft Stone ink. I backed the Aqua Mist banner with Hawaiian Shores cardstock for more of a shadow effect on the banner.

The second card is very similar in that I used almost all of the same products, just a little bit different placement of them. I stamped "thank" in Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist inks (stamping them twice, not re-inking in between) to get the different shades of blue, starting at the bottom with the darkest color.

A few Mini Blooms flowers were added over the top and another "you" cut with Pure Poppy cardstock.

"So Much" is from the Mini Blooms set. When finished with the front, I added a little strip of Pure Poppy cardstock and a Melon Berry patterned paper card base. Hope you enjoyed these today!

quilted challenge...

Today over at the Studio Calico blog, Becky Novacek and I have a fun challenge for you. Create something "quilted" looking on a project. You can piece patterned papers together for a background, piece titles together with different papers, or punch out pieces and cut them apart, putting them back together with other papers! I used the SC February Card Kit, Front Row, for my card.

All of the little butterflies were punched from the patterns in the card kit. I snipped them apart and glued them onto my card with different pieces. A couple of them are left whole. Some machine stitching was added, Studio Calico's Opaque White mist, a stamped sentiment from the card kit and twine for dimension, also from the card kit.
We would love to see your take on the challenge, so hope you can play along over at Studio Calico. You must stop over to see Becky's layout, it's ADORABLE! :)

Release Day...

Today the Papertrey Ink team members get to share all of their new projects with the products coming out tonight at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink. I'll show you what products are new!

My first card is made with the new Cutting Garden stamps.
I tried a few new things on this card (well, new to me!). First, I embossed the stamping with Zing, which is a little bit thicker than the fine embossing powder, but I like how it turned out. I added some white embossing powder over the top for "highlights" on my flowers, and I used a dry brush with some darker ink over the flowers and leaves to make darker areas as well.

After it dried, I went over the card with white ink to make it look "chalk board-ish".

Thank You card:
STAMPS: Cutting Garden
INK: Fresh Snow, Limeade Ice, Sweet Blush ink
PAPER: Smokey Shadow
one cardstock
DIES: none
OTHER: Zing powder - Blush and Cricket, white embossing powder., Soft Stone.
----------

Next I used two new sets, one called Fanciful Finials and one called My Mother, My Friend.

The Fanciful Finials go with the Background Basics: Wrought Iron set (to add little tops to the fence), but I decided to create a pattern with them instead. I stamped them in a criss-cross pattern. I added the floral stamp on the top and bottom from My Mother, My Friend and the sentiments from that set also. I cut the MOM frame out with the new My Mother, My Friend dies.

MOM card:
STAMPS: My Mother, My Friend, Fanciful Finials
INK: True Black, Sweet Blush ink, Raspberry Fizz
PAPER: Vintage Cream cardstock, Soft Stone cardstock
DIES: My Mother, My Friend
OTHER: On Trend chipboard by Crate Paper, Melissa Frances pearl.

----------

"So Happy For You" was made with the new Watercolor Wonder and  Mini Blooms stamps. I love the font in the Mini Blooms sentiments!

I used Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold and Hawaiian Shores inks. (Sweet Blush ink on the second one. I like how Sweet Blush ink looks in person, but online the Raspberry Fizz really pops!)

So Happy For You card:
STAMPS: Mini Blooms, Watercolor Wonder
INK: Raspberry Fizz, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores
PAPER: white cardstock
DIES: none
OTHER: Melissa Frances gems.

----------

These were stamped in the backgrounds with Watercolor Wonder. I used the Wonderful Words: Hello die cut and stamps also for the sentiments.

"To you from me with love" is from the Mini Blooms set. One of my favorite sentiments!

Hello watercolor cards:
STAMPS: Wonderful Words: Hello, Watercolor Wonder, Mini Blooms
INK: Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, Orange Zest, True Black
PAPER: white, Enchanted Evening, Raspberry Fizz
DIES: Wonderful Words: Hello
OTHER: Melissa Frances gems, embossing powder.
----------

Another one using the Wonderful Words: Hello stamps. Really quick and simple one.

Hello From the Heart card:
STAMPS: Wonderful Words: Hello
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, True Black
PAPER: whjite, Pure Poppy
DIES:  none
OTHER: none.

----------

The next card uses Irresistibly Ikat and My Mother, My Friend stamps. I used Sweet Blush ink, Raspberry Fizz, Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold ink in the centers (I know it's hard to see in this pic!)

To the Best Friend card:
STAMPS: Irresistibly Ikat, My Mother My Friend
INK: Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, True Black
PAPER: white, Classic Kraft

DIES:  none
OTHER: sticker by Crate Paper.

----------

One more quick Irresistibly Ikat card...super simple. I used Ripe Avocado ink, Spring Rain ink, and Canyon Clay ink.

Birthday Wishes card:
STAMPS: Irresistibly Ikat
INK: Ripe Avocado, Canyon Clay, Spring Rain, True Black
PAPER: white, Classic Kraft
DIES: none
OTHER: none.

----------

And last, but not least, another Cutting Garden card mixed with a new set called Boutique Borders: Mother.
I used Background Basics: Woodgrain to stamp and emboss the kraft paper, then cut the flower and leaves from Cutting Garden. The frame is cut and stamped with Boutique Borders: Mother. I rolled the leaf stamps in the darker ink just on the edges to create depth to the die cuts.

Grandma card:
STAMPS: Cutting Garden, Boutique Borders: Mother, Background Basics: Woodgrain
INK: Fresh Snow, Classic Kraft, Dark Chocolate, True Black, Fine Linen
PAPER: Classic Kraft, white cardstock
DIES: Cutting Garden, Boutique Borders: Mother dies
OTHER: Melissa Frances pearls.

Boutique Accessories...

Welcome back to another Papertrey Ink countdown! We are working with some new stamps and dies today that are coming out on the 15th of this month.  I used the Boutique Accessories stamps and dies to create these little gifts.

There are 2 dies in this set. First I used a patterned paper by Crate Paper to cut the front piece.

Here you can see how the little pins will clip on! SO CUTE! You don't have to use these, there are other kinds of clips you can use, but these are just an example.

Next, I cut the back piece from Rustic Cream Cardstock and stamped the tops with Boutique Accessories in True Black ink to keep it simple and elegant.

Now you'll wrap the front piece around the back piece and adhere the ends on the back.

I am obsessed with burlap now that I have it in my hot little hands! lol I have been meaning to go to the fabric store and invest in some, but our closest fabric store is about 1/2 hour away, so I don't get down that way very often. I'm glad Papertrey Ink has it now.

So for my accessory, I decided to do a burlap brooch that you could slip onto a jacket. I cut 2 circles of burlap (one smaller than the other) and added a strip of burlap on the top with a resin flower in the center. It's all hot glued together onto the pin. You can add a little piece of felt onto the pin before adhering the burlap flower. That will help to hold it in place much better on the back.

You can use these in your hair or clip them onto a jacket, sweater or scarf. Oh the cuteness! Think of all the possibilities!

They can be made for any holiday or occasion, and wouldn't they be fun to sell at a holiday or craft bazaar? They're so inexpensive to make.
Boutique Accessories will be available at 10 pm EST on FEB 15th at PapertreyInk.com. The other girls have lots to show you also, so stop by each one of their blogs as well!

Spring Fling...

Today the Papertrey Ink team is working with a few new stamp sets coming out on the 15th... Polkadot Parade #1 and Mini Blooms, along with a new Favor It Box #9 die. We were to find an image online that inspires us, so I found this one below and ended up using it quite literally. I loved the pastel letters and knew they'd work perfectly with the new Headline Alphabet stamps coming out this month too!
So here is my take on the inspiration piece for an Easter card! I used the new Headline Alphabet for the sentiment and inserted the little bunny stamp from Polkadot Parade #1.

I had to pop up the tail for dimension! What is a cute bunny without a fluffy tail?

My advice when creating this card is to start in the center with the alpha stamps. I stamped the "Happy" first and then the Easter, starting with the S and T in the center and working my way out on each end to make sure the word was going to be even.

I made two little favor bags with the Favor It Box 9 dies. You can create smaller ones and larger bags with the same set! Inside the larger one, I added a tag cut with the Mat Stack 6 dies and stamped and embossed with the Mini Blooms set and the same bunny from Polkadot Parade #1. Added one of PTI's new resin pieces as the bunny tail.
Nichole Heady will have a video on how to make these cute baskets with the dies! I decided to add a fun Crate Paper brad at the top which kind of brings all of these colors that I used all together.

Now there is also a scavenger hunt today and a contest, which Nichole will explain on her blog this morning! Find all of the bunnies in the design team posts to win!
