I LOVE stars.
So I bought this new star punch recently. And just a warning...you might be seeing it a LOT! lol
I can't get enough of it!
Do you think it is just because the 4th of July is almost here?

Here are my creations with Jenni Bowlin's July kit!

I have been thinking about flying and how much I love it, because when I fly, it usually means I am going home to visit my family. On this page, I punched stars in each of the layers of paper to let the layer underneath show through. The photo is one I took on our last trip home in 2008!

Speaking of flying, the airplane paper in the kit gave me an idea to create some luggage tags for my girls! I drew out the airplane shape myself, put it together and laminated it with self-laminating paper that you can buy at Staples. The little labels that I used for her name came in the add-on kit, and I ran them through the printer before putting them all together. Front and back views....(sorry I had to blur out some of the info)

Taylor's last day of school was June 24th, so I made some thank you cards for her 2 teachers. Her teachers are both men this year, and I wanted the cards to be simple. I'm terrible at manly cards, but I had to give it a go! I tucked a gift card inside each one.

The "thanks" card is a trifold card, and the "teacher" card has a star punched out of it. A yellow star was adhered on the inside to show through the opening. If I would have had more time, I would have done some colorful stitching on these cards, but I think they are cute enough as is. :)

Taylor's male teachers were SO good this year. So good. She didn't complain about going to school one single day this year and that's quite an accomplishment! The following teachers will have a tough act to beat. As a parent, I so appreciate that. Who says school can't be fun?

We are off with our snazzy new luggage tags, headed to see my family. For those of you who celebrate the 4th, enjoy your Independence Day... and the sparklers, fireworks, parades and all the fun stuff that comes with this holiday! :)

...the memories we shared together.
...the fun we had together.
...the chubby legs and arms, the curly hair/straight hair, the tiny fingers and toes.
...the moments when my girls experienced things for the first time, their excitement as they learn, and seeing these moments through my childrens' eyes.

This is why I love to take pictures. This is why I scrapbook. I don't want to forget any of these precious moments! Life goes by too fast.

backgrounds for your cards...

Hey all, I'm back with a little idea/use for your Bayberry Cottage Clear Stamps by Pink Paislee. I used the large stamp from the set as a frame on the background of my cards. It's the perfect size to make cards with!

I wanted to show you how different it can look when stamping it in different colors.

I used a green ink (Old Olive) on the "I Believe in You" card and pink ink (Pretty in Pink) on the butterfly card. Both are Stampin' Up! inks. The red floral rub ons, the die cut and the papers are all from the 365 Degrees collection.

I just used my little Martha Stewart butterfly punch with some 365 Degrees papers by Pink Paislee on this card. Found some scraps lying around - they made a quick addition to my cards! I layered the light butterfly with a red butterfly underneath to make it pop out more. The little pearls fit nicely in the stamped swirls!

Wouldn't these make a lovely set of cards for someone special? Or you could stamp a bunch of these big frames on a layout in different colors and fill them with interesting embellishments!

enjoy the journey...

This month the Tattered Angels team got to work with some Pink Paislee goodies as well. I was excited! Even though I get to work with Pink Paislee all the time, I feel so comfortable with their products. The mix of shabbiness with color is right up my alley.

I had time to make a quick card yesterday. With my uncle passing from cancer last week and Kati's birthday party and babysitting, I've haven't had much time to think about scrapbooking. Actually I've been thinking a lot about life lately and what I want out of it. Deep stuff... :)

Anyway, back to the card... I created a matchbook card base and punched the edge of the flap for an added detail. I used the Cupid journaling card in the background, along with some Artisan tape! I wanted to try a new color combo. (well new to me) I thought the purples, grays and blues would be pretty.

The chipboard piece is Tattered Angels chipboard from the Tattered Traveler line. It's embossed and so neat. I sprayed it with Turquoise Blue Glimmer Mist and then sanded the raised portions. The "enjoy the journey" and the stars are stamps from the 365 Degrees line by Pink Paislee. I sprayed the seam binding with Silver Sugar Glimmer Mist, it's so soft and shiny in real life!

I was thinking you could use this sentiment with a graduation card, but maybe even a retirement card. My daughter has a teacher that is retiring this year and tomorrow is her going away party. I think I might give her this card. I'm sure she'll enjoy the journey of retirement!

typography and a quiz...

When trying to decide what to scrapbook for "Wednesday's Words" over at Pink Paislee, I thought of typography and how it affects our layouts. I went on-line and searched "typography" and boy, do you get a lot of ideas from different fonts...and ways that graphic designers have arranged them!

I found this site and loved how the shapes were created with letters! So I ran with that idea and cut out a heart shape, then filled it with x's and o's on my page. I asked my daughter who just turned 5 years old some questions about "love" and wanted to scrap her answers.

I drew the thought bubble out on patterned paper and cut out a heart in the center of it, and then popped it up with pop dots to make the heart stand out a bit more. I wanted the x's and o's to be light and not overpower the page, so I chose white sticker letters to fill it!

This is a photo of Kati and her daddy at the park one day. Wrestling is one way they show each other their love!

I came up with some questions about love for my 5 year old. I thought it would be fun to see what she says about the topic! A quiz is a great way to add journaling to your page. Often times, I don't know what to say about my photos. Ask your child what he/she thinks about a subject....or even about the photo. It's fun to record their silly answers and look back at them when your child is older!

(The second one says, "when mom tells you you're CUTE".)

Next time you run out of ideas, do a search on typography and see where it takes you!

I have a couple more cards to share from the June JBS kit! On this one, I cut up some of the Play Date mini papers to assemble a flag for my card. The colors reminded me of Independence Day! (added ribbons from my stash).

This card below is made from the 12x12" die cut paper, which I cut in half, and then folded the 2 ends in together. I wrapped the ribbon from the kit around it and used one of the little pins to hold the ribbon together. The sun is cut from one of the Play Date mini journaling cards in the kit.

My birthday was yesterday and I turned 39. Gosh, I feel old! I had a REALLY hard time with it this year. Not sure why! I can't imagine what turning 40 is going to be like for me. lol Thank you so much for following my blog. I'm so thankful for "meeting" all of you! XO
