Using stickers to add pattern and color.

Looking for an idea on how to use banner stickers? Adding pattern and color to your work is so easy with small shapes like these triangle banner stickers.
I have a couple of cards over at the LilyBee blog today made with LilyBee's Buttercup line, which has such fun colors - yellows, grays, and teals. Gray is so hot right now - in fact, I'm loving it so much that I painted the spare bath with a light shade of gray the other day!

The sentiment used here is Simply You by Papertrey Ink. I used LilyBee's Victoria Park stamps with Papertrey Ink's Aqua Mist ink to create a little "frame" around the sentiment with the small floral. Stop over to see two cards using this quick and simple technique.

Rosie Posie revisited.

The Rosie Posie set has been on my mind lately, so this morning I played around with it a bit and combined the roses with the Doily Details die onto Fine Linen cardstock.
I used Pure Poppy, Melon Berry and Simply Chartreuse for the flowers and leaves. They were cut out with the Rosie Posie dies.
The hexagons were stamped and embossed with white embossing powder...and they look pretty just like this, but when you stamp the smaller hexagon onto Fine Linen patterned paper and cut them out, they add such a nice contrast to the white centers and really make the hexagons pop!

Sending a Big Thank You card:
STAMPS: Rosie Posie, A Big Thank You
INK: Fresh Snow, Dark Chocolate, Classic Kraft, Pure Poppy, Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse
PAPER: Fine Linen and white cardstock, Fine Linen Patterned Paper
DIES: Rosie Posie, Doily Details
OTHER: corner rounder.
------------

Here I stamped the thank you on vellum and laid it over a Doily Details die cut. I had stamped a Rosie Posie rose on the die cut with Pure Poppy ink before attaching the vellum over top. It's very subtle, but peeks through and adds a nice touch!
The vellum is layered over Fine Linen patterned paper and attached with twine. I don't think I'll EVER get tired of the Rosie Posie set, it's so pretty and can be used for so many occasions!
Sending You Thanks card:
STAMPS: Rosie Posie, A Big Thank You
INK: True Black, Pure Poppy
PAPER: white cardstock, Fine Linen Patterned Paper, vellum
DIES: Doily Details
OTHER: twine from The Twinery, corner rounder, hole punch.

Blog hop: Lilybee and Epiphany Crafts.

LilyBee has the cutest journal cards! I really love the chevrons, stripes and fun designs! When I was looking at the stack of journal cards all together, I liked how some of them looked stacked next to each other with the blues and reds peeking out... and so, a card was born!
I layered three of the journaling cards and stitched them together on the left to create the card base. I adhered some seam binding on the left and a little rolled rose made from Pure Poppy ribbon. The butterflies are stamped with the Double Dutch clear stamps and True Black ink and cut out.
I made the floral frame with an Epiphany Crafts tool called the Shape Tool. These were fun to make! See below for a how-to.
Day to Remember card:
STAMPS: Victoria Park Clear Stamps by LilyBee
INK: Pure Poppy ink by Papertrey Ink
PAPER: Victoria Park 6x6 paper pad by LilyBee, Double Dutch Index Journal Cards,Victoria Park Index Journal Cards
DIES: none
OTHER: Handmade ABC Cardstock Letters by LilyBee, Epiphany Crafts: Shape Tool, Bubble Caps, Metal Settings Oval Silver 25. Seam binding, Pure Poppy ribbon by Papertrey Ink, machine stitching.
-------------

This card was made the same, by stitching two journaling cards together, this time at the top instead of on the side. All I added was the flower (with the Notched Flower dies) and leaves, and the pretty Epiphany Crafts center bubble.

The center was made with the Epiphany Crafts tool also, but not put into a metallic frame.
I debated whether to cut the back journaling card down to match the front one, but I kind of like it longer than the front ... it's different!
Hello card:
STAMPS: none
INK: none
PAPER: Buttercup Index Journal Cards, Buttercup -Sunflower paper, Victoria Park - Grand Theatre paper, Victoria Park - Richmond Row paper, Handmade Bag of Bits, Double Dutch Index Journal Cards, Buttercup Index Journal Cards - all by LilyBee Designs
DIES: Notched Flower dies by Papertrey Ink
OTHER: Epiphany Crafts: Shape Tool, Bubble Caps. Machine stitching.
--------------

To make the stamped metallic frame embellishment in the top card, I first placed stamped a floral with red ink onto a piece of paper with the Double Dutch Clear Stamps. Then I placed the paper in the Epiphany Crafts shape tool. Next, an Epiphany Crafts bubble is placed in the center of the tool over the patterned paper. The lid is closed and pressed down. It adheres the bubble to the paper and cuts it out at the same time!

Then the bubble is adhered to one of Epiphany Crafts metal settings. This one doesn't have the stamped image on it, but you get the idea....

I used a needle and thread to attach it to the seam binding on my first card! Such pretty accents for cards or other projects. Thank you for reading today ~ I hope you'll come back soon. xo

May products at Papertrey Ink.

Today is release day, in which the Papertrey Ink team posts all of their creations with the new products that are up for sale today (the 15th of each month)! Let's get started!

The first card is made with the new Flipping Out stamp set and little Flipping Out die! Are these not "flippin" adorable! You can die cut the flip flops and add little flowers and hearts to embellish them. Oh, so cute.
On the close-up, you can see I added some dimension to the tops of the flip flops by popping them up with dimensional adhesive. I used a border die as the "sand" and stuck the flip flops in the sand!
This one is a quickly stamped card. These would both be great for a teacher to wish them a happy summer vacation! I stamped the flip flops as if they were walking.
The "happy summer" is stamped with Classic Kraft ink, and I thought Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz and Harvest Gold were summery colors to go with the theme!
Flip Flop cards:
STAMPS: Flipping Out
INK: Harvest Gold, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, True Black, Classic Kraft
PAPER: Raspberry Fizz cardstock, Aqua Mist cardstock, white, Hawaiian Shores cardstock, Aqua Mist patterned paper, Summer Sunrise patterned paper
DIES: Flipping Out, Edgers #4 (scallop)
OTHER: Embroidery Floss, pearls.

Next, I used the Chevron Die and Think Big Favorites # 16 stamps. There are two different ways I came up with to use the chevrons!

1. You can cut the large one from cardstock and layer it with the smaller chevron cut from patterned paper for a neat look like this:

2. You can also off-set the top chevron layer just slightly (the smaller one) like I did here to create an argyle look! Many fun things to be made with the chevron dies! I can't wait to play more with these. Really addicted to chevron these days.
Chevron cards:
STAMPS: Think Big Favorites #16
INK: Dark Chocolate
PAPER: white, Canyon Clay, Aqua Mist and Kraft cardstock, Summer Sunrise patterned paper, Classic Kraft patterned paper, Aqua Mist patterned paper
DIES: Chevron Stripe Borders
OTHER: pearls, corner rounder.
----------------

This card uses the new Fillable Frames Sentiments. I went crazy with stars here and stitched them down with my machine.
The patterned papers I used here are Aqua Mist, new Fine Linen and new Summer Sunrise patterned paper.
Celebrate Good Times card:
STAMPS: Fillable Frames Sentiments
INK: Dark Chocolate
PAPER: Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen patterned papers, Classic Kraft cardstock, Aqua Mist cardstock
DIES: none
OTHER: Fiskars star punch

This card is made with the Framed Out #4 stamp set. I cut two of the frames with the Framed Out #4 die from the Autumn Abundance patterned paper and stamped some of the frames with Simply Chartreuse ink.

With Gratitude card:
STAMPS: Framed Out #4
INK: True Black, Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse
PAPER: Autumn Abundance Patterned Paper, Fine Linen Patterned Paper (tan heart and stripe background), white cardstock
DIES: Framed Out #4
OTHER: Snow Day die cuts (orange heart) by Pink Paislee, pearls, seam binding.
----------------

This card is made with the new Happy Hydrangeas stamp set and dies. I cut out the hydrangea and saved the negative cut out (white cardstock piece), then stamped the die cut piece with new Winter Wisteria ink and Simply Chartreuse for the stem. I layered the die cut over the negative and popped it up with dimensional adhesive! Love this look!

For a soft background, I chose the Background Basics: Medallion circles and stamped them with new Soft Stone ink. The gray and purples are really pretty together.

Happy Mother's Day card:
STAMPS: Happy Hydrangeas
INK: Winter Wisteria, Soft Stone, True Black, Simply Chartreuse
PAPER: Winter Wisteria, white cardstock
DIES: Happy Hydrangeas die, Simple Circles die (top border)
OTHER: pearl.
----------------

Last a fun card with the Heart-2-Heart #4 stamp set. I die cut the phone with the Heart-2-Heart #4 die and used the sentiments and heart from the set also. I wanted to try a tone-on-tone look. (No pun intended!)
I made a little cord from twine and added the hearts to kind of gave the look of the phone ringing!
Hello Sweet Friend card:
STAMPS: Heart-2-Heart #4
INK: Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold, True Black
PAPER: Aqua Mist Patterned paper, Aqua Mist cardstock, Harvest Gold cardstock
DIES: Heart-2-Heart #4, Limitless Layers 3.5" Oval

Summer Camp.

Today we're back with the second group post for Papertrey Ink, and we're showing projects made with the new SUMMER CAMP stamp set and papers!

What little boy doesn't like to camp, right! I found this adorable photo and it reminded me of days long ago, camping out in the backyard with friends, warm blankets and flashlights!
My assignment was "masculine birthday wrap". I immediately thought of wrapping up a sleeping bag and flashlight for a boy birthday....didn't have a masculine sleeping bag on hand, so the next best thing was a big comfy, warm jean blanket that I made with flannel on the back. I rolled it up and tied it with a Spring Moss ribbon, then tucked in a flashlight.
I made a little banner with all of the fun papers and attached it to the blanket with safety pins on the two ends to the blanket.
Love the cute footprints stamps! I used some of the stamps to embellish the banner.
The banner was very simple, just blocks of paper, punched out the stars with my Fiskars punch and backed them with SUMMER CAMP patterned papers. You could make this banner for a scrapbook page or to wrap around a gift box also!
The jean quilt was made with old jeans of ours, squares sewn into a patchwork pattern (alternating dark and light jeans). I added dark blue flannel on the front borders and the back, so it is nice and soft. The jeans make it very heavy and warm!!

And here's little birthday card to go with it.... I stamped the trees and camera and cut them out. Loved all the fun sayings, so I wanted to incorporate them into my design!

The SUMMER CAMP products will be available on the 15th at www.papertreyink.com. Visit the rest of the team to see more fun camp projects!

On the Farm.

Today the Papertrey Ink team is having a blog hop to show a new stamp set called "On the Farm", coming out on the 15th.
First, I made a set of cards to send to my grandmother. She loves roosters, so I thought of her as I was making this! I wanted to use all of the different sentiments in the set, so I kept the basic design the same throughout, just changed the sentiment and animal on each one. This way, I was able to stamp them all in "assembly line" fashion. The cards are packaged in one of Papertrey Ink's Clear Card Boxes.
I wrapped a piece of Fine Linen Patterned Paper around the box and decorated it with the Background Basics: Farm and Barn (chicken wire) and the On the Farm Stamp set. A few kraft buttons were threaded with twine and wrapped around the box.

On each card, I began with the Crackled stamp with Fine Linen ink. I stamped the check pattern in Pure Poppy, a sentiment in True Black and an animal in Classic Kraft and last, a little circle stamp. Then I trimmed this piece down and added it to a white cardstock base. I stamped 2 of the check patterns with Soft Stone ink on the top and bottom. The Soft Stone is gorgeous in real life, but hard to get a good photo of it! Added a Kraft button to the top for a bit of dimension and to add a rustic feel.
I kept this design the same throughout the cards, yet used all of the different sentiments to make a variety of occasions. She's going to love these!

Next, I used the Shape Up Series: Barn die and the Simple Stripes Impression Plate to make a little birthday card for a child. My daughter would have loved this when she was little, as she loves horses!
Inside the little doors is a felt horse cut with the On the Farm dies. On the front of the barn, I machine stitched around the edges and added white strips of paper around the barn door to help the door stand out a bit. The saying says, "Herd it's your Birthday!". The card base is made with the Barn die also, with new Fine Linen patterned paper.
And if you are still with me, I have one more card made with the new Chicken Wire Impression Plate...
How cute is that chicken wire background!
Thanks for reading today and be sure to grab these fun products on the 15th at www.papertreyink.com. Now hop on over to the rest of the team's blogs to see what they've done with these items!
