Studio Calico February designs...

Popping in to say hello and share my Studio Calico projects for this month! How are you? I miss blogging ... I haven't been the best blogger lately. Truth is: I haven't really been crafting! We are getting ready to put our house up for sale and move to another state for my husband's job (Colorado), so we've been busy finishing up little house projects and cleaning/purging. I am excited for the big move, but it's definitely scary to uproot. If you have any moving tips, please do share with me! :)

Anyway, the first five cards from the Studio Calico kits were made with the MAIN CARD KIT only! Here is the link to purchase the main card kit products that I used here today.
This one was made with the cute little 6x6" paper pad. Studio Calico always has beautiful papers and colors (and they are exclusive, not found anywhere else, one thing I love about these kits)! I angled some strips of papers and tucked in the little labels. I used the Hello stamp in the kit on the bigger label. I just love these enamel dots!!
This one shows the fun telephone dial stamp. I stamped it onto the vellum in the kit and embossed with white Zing. Then it's layered over one of the patterned papers. The frame is cut with Fabulous Frames die by Papertrey Ink.

I added a few of the colorful enamel dots to the dial for a fun look. The frame is popped up for a bit of dimension.
Here I am playing with my reinkers again. I stamped and embossed the Hello all over the white cardstock and then painted over the top with a bit of ink and water. Use more water on your paintbrush than ink. You can always add more color if it's not dark enough for you. If you go heavy on the ink and light on the water, you'll get very dark streaks. You want it to blend a bit...

I used Aqua Mist, Spring Moss and Harvest Gold die ink refills by Papertrey Ink to paint with. (Mainly I chose these colors because I thought they matched the rest of the card kit nicely!)

Here I wanted to use the fun "let's stay connected" stamp...

I tucked a little stamped label under the patterned paper.

On this one, I used Studio Calico's Opaque White Mist on the kraft cardstock first and let dry. I cut the papers from the Fabulous Frames dies again and stamped into the center.

The flower was made by punching about five pieces from the vellum in the kit. I used Martha Stewart's Double Craft Embroidery punch, then stacked all of the flowers up in the center and stitched them so they would stay together. I scrunched up the flower with my fingers to add dimension and pulled the little flowers apart a bit while scrunching each layer. A little enamel dot finishes out the center and adds color!

Last, I wanted to play around with the vellum again. I guess you could say I'm a little addicted to working with it these days! So many fun things you can do with it, and I like how the papers and embellishments can peek through. Here I stamped the vellum and then layered it over some of the journaling cards.

That's it for me today. Thank you for swinging by and saying hi!

Love your work. On another note. Don't know if you decided on a moving company but we used ABF...they only do state to state and not intra state moving. We lived temp. in Ohio , now Texas. Well you can use the pod system where you pack the pods or have them or someone else do it and they will move them. It is also a good way to take stuff you want to keep just not in the house while you are trying to sell. Just a thought. Good luck with the selling process and moving. Keep in touch PLEASE. I check your blog daily.

These are all fantastic! Especially love the first one - so much fun. I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of these kits - I'll be using your ideas for inspiration. Good luck with the packing and moving! I know it can be stressful but also an exciting change. Take care.

I have some great moving tips. Don't pack all of the clothes from your dresser drawers. Get pallet wrap and wrap them! They can then be removed so the dressers aren't so heavy and all your clothes will arrive just as you had them! Buy boxes. They aren't that much and then they will stack nicely. Great for in the moving truck and also for packing and stacking as you go. Use a different sharpie for each room you pack so it's easy to remember where things go without thinking too hard. Make sure you list contents more detailed than just 'living room' for example as there will always be something you need that you didn't anticipate needing right away and the search will be on! Buy a roll of bubble wrap. It's cleaner and safer than newspaper for fragile items. Place old towels between framed photos and art. Or use the newspaper here as no one eats off of them.

Rent boxes for hanging clothes. Takes so much less time to pack and unpack and no ironing when you get there. If you have anything with keys like a desk or jewelry box, make sure you label where you put them. I spent 6 months looking for the key to my old-fashioned style secretary desk. Ditto remote controls.

Print off or buy some fluorescent stickers with fragile written on them. Saves time writing it and more noticeable too. Set aside a couple boxes to open right away. Paper plates, cups and cutlery, dish cloths, kitchen towels, bath towels, hand soap, mini hotel soap and shampoos, sheets and cleaners, paper towels and rags for the new place. Do not allow these boxes to get buried or lost and you will be set with essentials even if you can't find anything.

Oh, label your cords. I use a label maker to label all of the cords for TV, DVD etc and also the charging Cords for laptops, phones etc. it won't seem so obvious which is which when they aren't plugged in where they normally go and are all in a huge pile. On the TV etc, you can also label where they get plugged in if you aren't a cable genius! In case it wasn't clear, use the bubble wrap especially for dishes. Nice and clean unlike if you use newspaper. If you have a pet, make sure to have a box of quick open essentials for them too. Mark it nice and brightly so it can't get lost and can be opened and set up quickly.

I love all of these, and can't wait for my kit to show up on the doorstep now! Good luck with the move. My son moved from NY (where we are) to Colorado nearly two years ago. No way he would ever come back. He loves it there!

Gorgeous, Danielle! Really love the vellum flower and those enamel dots really add a lot of pop. Going to try your ink refill & water painting technique as it really highlights your white embossed Hello. Sweet!

My biggest tip would be get rid of everything you don't want or use. DO NOT take it with you. We cleared everything out of our house we wouldn't use (donating to Salvation Army) before we put the house on the market. It was not hard keeping it clean and it only took 3 days to sale. Good luck!
