DT Tips: Achieving a Watercolored Look with Stamped Images...

Welcome! I've had some questions on this previous post of mine on how I blended the bird to get the watercolor look, so I created a video for you today with a new card and the technique of stamping images and blending them to make them look watercolored. I hope you enjoy watching it, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Here is the video tutorial, and I apologize that the video is so small! I can't seem to figure out how to make it bigger on my blog. Please click HERE to watch it at over at Papertrey Ink's YouTube channel! Thanks!

The stamps used on this card are The Sweet LifeSpring Woods stamps and dies (bird and branch) and Bold Blossoms (sentiment). Have a creative day!

Watercoloring stamped images...

Happy hump day! Spring break is over for us, thank goodness. Ha. I love my kids, but honestly being with them for 10 days was exhausting. lol This week is flying by! Catching up on cleaning the house (I like when it stays clean for more than an hour!), laundry and some assignments. Yesterday I had a post due for Scrapbook Expo's Weekly Scrapper blog, and I felt like painting with watercolors. I started with some flowers and branches...

Then I wanted to add a pretty bird, so I used the Spring Woods stamp set, stamped it with Aqua Mist and Tropical Teal (it is a 2-step stamp), then added a tiny bit of water over the top to blend it to make it look painted.

Would you have guessed that the bird was a stamp? So easy, right!

Swing by to see the full tutorial and finished card at the Weekly Scrapper blog! I'll be back with more projects either today or tomorrow! :)

Pretty Pink Posh: March Product Release...

This month I was asked to participate in the March product release for Pretty Pink Posh! They sent me some fun stamps and dies, and here is what I came up with! I used their new Scallop Circles die set and the Birdie Friends stamp set and coordinating dies. I also used my MOST favorite thing that PPP carries - their Clear Sequins!

The Scallop Circle dies have a pretty "stitched" look to them that creates a nice finished look, love that. I did some ink blending in the background, then die cut the stamps, nest, leaves and branch and stamped them. The birds, nest and branch were colored in with Copic Markers: Y15 (birds), R20 (nest) and YG11 (on branch). The background paper is by Papertrey Ink's Vintage Linens paper pad and the inks used were: Tropical Teal, Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, New Leaf and Dark Chocolate by Papertrey Ink.

There are two $25 gift certificates up for grabs today by Pretty Pink Posh! Swing through each blog and leave a comment. Comments must be left by 11:59 PM PST on 3/14/2016. Winners will be announced on the PPP blog and will be picked randomly along the blog hop.

Introducing NEW! Make It Market kit: Wee Folk...

Welcome back to another group post for Papertrey Ink. Today we are previewing the new mini Make It Market Kit called Wee Folk by Betsy Veldman! This mini kit comes with pre-printed patterned papers, dies, a stamp set and few extras.

On the first two cards, I simply cut out the pre-printed animals with the dies in the kit and popped them up on pre-printed papers. Added a strip of pattern at the top and twine from the kit.
The pins were from my stash. I poked them through the twine, then cut off the sharp tip with wire cutters.

These two cards were super quick and easy! Betsy's done all the hard work already by creating these adorable papers and icons. I just wanted to add a tiny bit of dimension by popping up the deer.

Little One card set:
STAMPS: Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk
INK: none
PAPER: Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk
DIES: Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk
OTHER: twine - Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk, pins - My Mind's Eye, pearls - Melissa Frances.
______

Last, a card that required a little more effect, but totally worth it in my opinion! I love how it turned out. I cut out a Mat Stack 5 piece from Classic Kraft cardstock, then used the stamps and dies to create a little scene on the front.

The background was made with the Bookprint Alphabet Die. I left the die letters wired in tact on the metal die sheet (didn't cut them apart yet), so I was able to place the whole alphabet die over two layers of cardstock and run it through my Cuttlebug, which created an embossed look, instead of die cutting the alphas out. It almost looks like a little book plate for a book, doesn't it? I think it would make a cute notebook cover also! On the inside I stamped "sweet baby" from the kit stamps.

Welcome Sweet Baby card:
STAMPS: Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk
INK: Versamark for embossing, Dark Chocolate
PAPER: Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk
DIES: Make It Market Mini Kit: Wee Folk
OTHER: embossing powder, pearl - Melissa Frances.

Well, I hope you enjoyed these ideas. The Wee Folk mini kit will be available at Papertrey Ink on April 15th at 10pm EST. Now head on over to the other DT blogs to see what they've made also!

Melissa Frances sneaks: day 2...

Today Melissa is sharing the new Attic Treasures line with you over at the Melissa Frances blog. Stop over and leave a comment today for your chance to win. This is Volume 3 of our popular Attic Treasures Collection. Beautiful with cream, ivory, white, brown and little pops of muted color, our Attic Treasures embodies a classic look.
 Here are the papers...
I love all of these. If you look in my last post, you'll see that the two layouts I made used some of these papers in combination with the C'est la Vie line. The big "Ledger Dot" is so much fun and pretty at the same time! And the script papers - ohhhh, gotta love them. On this card, I cut the script paper with a Tiny Envelope die...

These lines look so pretty with purples and shades of teal. Cardstock here is Aqua Mist. I added a C'est la Vie sticker and paper with a Melissa Frances resin frame and pearls. Loving the Postmark stamps lately, as you can tell. :)

On this Spring layout, I used the C'est la Vie papers, tags and stickers. I punched some stars from the new Attic Treasures text papers. I rolled up the Melissa Frances fringed crepe paper into a flower.
The photograph was trimmed into a tag shape to match the other tags on the layout. I didn't do a thing to this pretty tag below...it comes just like this! I simply sewed it onto my page on the right hand side.
Well, that wraps up the sneaks for Melissa Frances this week. Stay tuned for more Craft and Hobby Show projects by me with Pink Paislee, however...

Iconic Images...

How would you like to win a stamp set today? Papertrey Ink is having several challenges and giveaways going on today over at Nicole Heady's blog!

Today we are featuring a new stamp set called Iconic Images, which you can see here, I have stamped the bird and sentiment from Iconic Images right over the Damask Designs paper by Papertrey Ink. The designs in this set feature some images that - in my opinion - will never go out of style!

I used Hawaiian Shores ink and stamped right on the patterned paper. The resin and flowers are by Melissa Frances. The text paper you see here is actually the packaging from the Hometown Summer Punchouts by Pink Paislee. I thought the colors would work great!
This stamp set will also be available to everyone who places an order of $100 or more between 9 am EST July 23rd and 11:59 EST July 24th at www.papertreyink.com.

Happy trails...

Welcome to another Papertrey Ink blog hop and today we are featuring the new Happy Trails stamps and dies coming out the 15th. I was inspired by the bird in the set and the little inspirational saying that goes with it!
I've been seeing these cute stuffed birds on-line and well....I love any fabric project, so I gave it a whirl. To make the bird, I just cut 2 bird pieces from fabric and placed them wrong sides together. I machine stitched around 3/4 of it and left a hole at the bottom of her belly to turn it right side out and stuff it with quilt batting. I stamped "smile" on her belly before stuffing. The wings are decorate with felt, lace, flower and an Artisan Element by Pink Paislee.
The legs are made of thick wire, so that the bird can stand. I just bent them and played around until she stood up! It helps to make the wired legs long and stick the wire all the way up into her body to give her some extra stabilization. Oh, don't forget to add some cute wooden spools to the legs if you wish! Makes her a little whimsical and homespun. :)
I really wanted her to hold a twig of some sort, but I opted for a pin and then hung a felt heart on the pin.

I loved the saying that came with the bird in the stamp set, so I stamped it with Ripe Avocado ink and Pure Poppy for the word "song" and added it to this cute little frame with a Happy Trails die cut bird in the corner. I had to stamp the words a little differently to get them to fit, so I masked off some of the words as I went and stamped a few words at a time.
Tuck these two together in a nice gift box and what a sweet gift it would make.
