Make It Monday video tutorial: shading with Copics...

Recently, I purchased a few more Copic Markers to add to my stash and have been having fun with using them in different ways! Today is my day for a Make It Monday video over at Papertrey Ink, so I've made this card with shadowing under the die cut. I'd love if you would stop over to watch the video at Nichole's blog, give it a try, and let me know what you think of this technique!
I've used a Pure Poppy die cut, trimmed from the Framed Friends die by Papertrey Ink, then a light pink R20 Copic marker for the shading under the word. In the video, I will show you other samples of cards I've made recently with the same technique. Word dies work excellent for this, but you can shadow under other die cuts as well!

I've used Tulip Time and Wonderful Words: Friends stamps also.

Swing by Nichole's blog to watch the full Make It Monday video on how to recreate this card! Have a fabulous day, and don't forget to play along in the shadowing challenge for your chance to win a Papertrey Ink gift card!

Creative Cardmaker: Coloring pages for cardmakers...

Coloring pages for adults seem to be all the rage right now… I mean, really, who doesn’t like to color? It’s so relaxing and reminds me of my childhood love of art! I’ve recently discovered that now cardmakers get to color, too! Check out these neat card-sized paper packs with different designs you can color in with Copic Markers, colored pencils, etc., so much fun: this one is called Fancy Pants Sentiments Coloring Pages by Papertrey Ink. They have others, including a feather-themed pack, a butterfly pack and more. And when you are done coloring, you get to send your finished artwork to someone special in the form of a card!

I’ve chosen this particular sentiment, because I had these tulips all stamped and ready to go, and this “Miss You” coloring sheet has a nice open space in the lower left corner where I can add my tulips. So this one, it is! I’ve also grabbed some Copic markers from my collection that I thought would go well with the colors in the tulips.

What I learned is that I’m not the best colorer in the world, but I had a lot of fun with it, and it sort of turned out with an “artistic” look. I used the R39 Copic Marker to color in the “Miss You,” then shaded around the words with R20. The swirls were colored in with BG10, then shaded with two greens on the ends, YG11 and YG63.

What do you think? Will this be a trend you’ll try? See the Scrapbook Expo blog for the finished product!

New Products for Spring & Egg Hunt...

The Papertrey Ink team has a ton of new spring products to show you today, including the Bunny Basket stamps & dies, Cover Plate: Basket die, Easter Grass die, Shaped Sayings: Easter and the Simply Spring Borders stamps & dies!  Everything you see that is new here today will be available for purchase at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink.

Be sure to start at Nichole Heady's blog for the annual "scavenger egg hunt" as you hop through the design team's blogs to locate all of the egg icons for your chance to win! Click on the above official egg hunt photo to see it larger.
First, I have a treat wrap made with the Cover Plate: Basket die. Basically my treat wrap is a card that I placed glassine bags inside, then wrapped the seam binding around it like a little package. The glassine bags hold candy and a note.
The basket die is cut from Aqua Mist cardstock and placed over Mint Julep cardstock. I also couldn't help but to work with the Tulip Time stamps and dies again! I don't think I did them justice yesterday, gah! I love them SO!

The tag is stamped with Tulip Time, Bunny Basket and Simply Spring Borders. The Easter grass is cut with the Easter Grass die out of vellum.

Spring is in the Air Treat Wrap:
STAMPS: Bunny Basket, Tulip Time, Simply Spring Borders
INK: Bright Buttercup, Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist, Raspberry Fizz, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, Lovely Lady, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise inks
PAPER: White, Aqua Mist, Mint Julip, vellum
DIES: Cover Plate: Basket die, Easter Grass die, Tulip Time dies
OTHER: seam binding - Zipperstop, glassine bags, candy.

On the next card, I began with the Bunny Basket stamps to create a colorful egg background.
The Limitless Layers 2.5" Circles scalloped die was cut to place behind the Shaped Sayings: Easter die cut, then a few enamel dots were sprinkled around to finish out the "colorful" look!

Colorful Easter card:
