DT Tips: Layered scallops...

With all of the pretty Noted scalloped-edged dies that just came out by Papertrey Ink, I couldn't wait to use them again after the release. Today I have a few new ideas for you on how to use these dies!

On the first card, I cut a couple of the Noted: Scalloped Square dies out and trimmed a bunch of pieces that were 3 1/4" x 1" from the edge of the die, the stamped them with various stamp sets!

Here is the Noted: Scalloped Square die that I used. I cut a long edge and then trimmed it down into smaller pieces.
The stamp sets I used on the pieces are: Graceful Greetings IIBackground Basics: Super GinghamPolka Dot Basics IIIQuilted: Summer and Stitches & Swirls. Sentiment is from Cross Stitched. Two of the pieces have all of the colors in them, then I pulled those colors out onto the others.

The strips were layered, adhered at the top of each strip, then the scalloped edges pulled up slightly, so you can see the dimension.

On the next card, I cut two Noted: Scalloped Square dies and trimmed them down, then used one as a border, stamped with Quilted: Summer (triangles). The rest is stamped with Stitched Sentiments, Cross Stitched and Graceful Greetings II.

The circle die comes with the Noted: Scalloped Square set. I love those little embossed stitches.

On the last card, I had a little square of one of the Noted: Scalloped Square dies left over, so I wanted to add it at an angle on the top corner of the card. I stamped it with Cross Stitched, then added a sentiment and flowers from Graceful Greetings II.

Underneath, I added a couple more scalloped edges, then on the corner of the scallops, a little twine bow. :) Background paper is Green Parakeet.

I hope you enjoyed these ideas. Thank you for popping by today and have a great day!

Release day...

Today is release day, when all of the new products we have been showing you sneak peeks of this week will be available tonight for purchase at 10pm EST at Papertrey Ink! First, I have a card made with Graceful Greetings II stamps and dies (sentiment and flowers) and What the Doodle: Sun stamps and dies. I decided I wanted to use the sun as a flower instead of a sun. Reminds me of a sunflower!

The base was cut with the Noted: Scalloped Square die, but I didn't fold it in half to make a square. I left it long and just trimmed it off at about 5 1/4" high and placed a piece of gingham at the top! I tucked my big flower into some stamped flowers from Graceful Greetings II. What a gorgeous stamp set this is. The sentiment is from Graceful Greetings II also!

Get Well card:
STAMPS: What the Doodle: Sun. Graceful Greetings II
INK: Pure Poppy, Lovely Lady, New Leaf, Spring Moss
PAPER: white, Chicken Scratch Gingham, vellum
DIES: What the Doodle: Sun, Graceful Greetings II
OTHER: embossing powder, enamel dots.
------
Last is Splits: Way to Go. I did something different with it...the little shapes reminded me of confetti, so I used them as such on this Congrats card!

The sentiment is from the new Big Basics: Congratulations die. See the swirls? Those are the ones I used on my floral card above from Graceful Greetings II. I thought they would make cute curly streamers.

Congratulations card:
STAMPS: Splits: Way To Go (confetti), Graceful Greetings II (swirls)
INK: Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Bright Buttercup, Aqua Mist, New Leaf
PAPER: Aqua Mist, white, Chicken Scratch Gingham
DIES: Big Basics: Congratulations die, Noted: Scalloped Square die
OTHER: enamel dot, corner rounder, twine.

Make It Monday video tutorial: shading with Copics...

Recently, I purchased a few more Copic Markers to add to my stash and have been having fun with using them in different ways! Today is my day for a Make It Monday video over at Papertrey Ink, so I've made this card with shadowing under the die cut. I'd love if you would stop over to watch the video at Nichole's blog, give it a try, and let me know what you think of this technique!
I've used a Pure Poppy die cut, trimmed from the Framed Friends die by Papertrey Ink, then a light pink R20 Copic marker for the shading under the word. In the video, I will show you other samples of cards I've made recently with the same technique. Word dies work excellent for this, but you can shadow under other die cuts as well!

I've used Tulip Time and Wonderful Words: Friends stamps also.

Swing by Nichole's blog to watch the full Make It Monday video on how to recreate this card! Have a fabulous day, and don't forget to play along in the shadowing challenge for your chance to win a Papertrey Ink gift card!

So Glad We're Friends:
(All Supplies by Papertrey Ink Unless Otherwise noted.)
STAMPS: Wonderful Words: Friends, Tulip Time
INK: Melon Berry, Sweet Blush, Pure Poppy, Bright Buttercup, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado
DIES: Framed Friends, Tulip Time
PAPER: Stamper Select White, Pure Poppy cardstock

Quilted...

I love the quilted look and am a quilter myself, so I thought it would be fun to bring this look to a card again for today's Scrapbook Expo cardmaking post! I grabbed the Quilted: Summer stamps and dies to make my card. It came together so quickly, just love this set!
First, I die cut the frame and stamped all of the fun triangles! I left some of them white to make it look like a pinwheel. You could also take the frame off and just use the pinwheel, with a stamped stem using the stripe in the stamp set! I die cut a flower and stamped it also.
Then I attached these pieces to a white card base, added the flower over the top. The larger pinwheel pieces are popped up with dimensional adhesive.

The Scripted stamps were used for a sentiment at the bottom.

Hop over to the Scrapbook Expo post to read more about this card. Happy "almost" summer!

Sentiment Signs revisited...

Today the senior design team is revisiting an older stamp set at Papertrey Ink to show you some new ways to use this set! This set is called Sentiment Signs. I've used it as a backdrop on my cards today, as I just love the graphic look of the block text!

My first thought was to stamp the Sentiments Signs block text and frame it with the new Garden Garland die. Well, sometimes things happen as happy accidents! I pulled out a white scrap from my scrap box to stamp the Sentiment Signs on, and it already had little gray butterflies stamped in the bottom corner with a red Swoosh stamp across it. (Not sure why I put it in my scrap box when it was already stamped on, but that gave me an idea!) I could add the Super Swoosh dies over the Sentiment Signs stamps! So that's how my design began.

Next, I played around with stamping the Sentiment Signs onto white cardstock with a dark color of ink, then layering vellum over the top. Ultimately, I decided I didn't want a white background, I wanted the aqua background and the polkadot background. So I decided to do the Sentiment Signs over the TOP of the vellum instead of underneath.

The Sentiment Signs were stamped onto Papertrey Ink's Sheer Basics Vellum. I heat embossed it with white embossing powder. Love how it stands out on the vellum! The vellum is attached just at the top with a strip of washi tape on each card.

Then I added color with some pretty background cardstock and patterned paper, and a flower from the Quilted: Spring stamp set and dies.

Hope you enjoyed this post! Be sure to visit Betsy, Dawn, Heather and Melissa to see more fresh ideas using Sentiment Signs stamps!
