We're back with another Papertrey Ink countdown group post to share a new stamp set called Super Stars! My good friend Shonna let me borrow this adorable photo of her son Tyler, and it was wonderful to scrap a boy page! Isn't he cute! I grabbed the "lucky" die from the Wonderful Words set to go with my page.

I was inspired by a sign I found on Pinterest here from Pink Peacock Paperie that says, "count your lucky stars".

Pretty much everything on this layout is by Papertrey Ink. The only exceptions are the shipping tag, twine, and the patterned paper star and plaid paper (both by My Mind's Eye).

Oh, how I love these stars and sayings!!! I do think this set of stamps and Star Border dies will be a best seller!

I've layered a stamped star with Aqua Mist patterned paper and a brad. I had to throw in some older houndstooth tape I had from my Pink Paislee stash.

Welcome to another Papertrey Ink group countdown post! We were each assigned a different image from the brand new 2012 Birthday Tags stamp set, and my image is this cute round polkadot tag with a star and celebrate banner on it. My first project is a group of birthday invitations...
I made a bunch of them, as they were so easy and quick to make. I cut the Card Base-ics #2 die, then trimmed some Aqua Mist patterned paper to slide into the tabs on the front.

I used a new stamp called By Invitation to stamp the party details.I stamped the circle tag onto Aqua Mist Patterned Paper to put at the top.

I used the same stamp here in Harvest Gold (yellow), Blueberry Sky (blue) and Canyon Clay (orange) inks. Added the "to/from" from the 2012 Birthday Tags stamp set. The little lollipop is taped onto the front.

Last is a birthday card. I used the round Celebrate stamp once again and turned it into an award ribbon. I die cut some felt stars for the ribbon tails from a new border die called Super Stars Borders (which you'll see more of tomorrow)! The little tag die cut from kraft cardstock with the loop at the top is new and is called Tag Sale #6.

If you are a technique person like I am, and love to try new things, you will definitely want to check out a new book by Vicki Boutin called Creative Foundations. There are 40 step-by-step demonstrations for easy, fun, messy, funky, innovative and customizable techniques. I was honored when Vicki asked me to participate in her book!

When you flip through the pages, you'll be amazed at Vicki's work. And truly, I'm not just saying that. Her layouts in the book are simply stunning. I talked to Vicki on the phone the other day, and she said the book was a blast to do because she is very much a technique girl, something I didn't realize about her! :)

Today a few of the gals who had work in the book are doing a blog hop to show you a few of the fun techniques! I decided to make a new card with 2 of the techniques that I was NOT assigned to in the book: working with gesso and making pleated beaded ribbons. It's inspiring to try new things, right!

You can use gesso or dimensional paste for this technique, just take a credit card and scrape it over your project. Let dry and add embellishments over the top! Would be a fun technique for a layout also to add dimension and interest without a lot of bulk. The second thing I tried from the book was the adding beads to ribbon. I'm a big ribbon fan, so I used a needle and thread with a running stitch. Every so often, I added a bead and pulled the string tight to gather the ribbon!

I used lots of Heidi Swapp's new items here, new papers, file tabs, fun sticker words, rub ons and fabric stars! Ribbon and beads were older items from my stash.
